Yes, bunnies are smart and creatures of habit. They learn quickly when there’s someone who likes them and is going to give them food treats. My bunny looks for my Dad in the morning to get her pellets and my mother scuffs her slippers as a signal for Sammy to come get a treat.
What you need to be careful of for Mr. Kenny Bunny is what he gets as regular meals and what are treats. You want to be sure he’s getting his unlimited hay and water all day, his pellets (no more than 1/4 cup a day) and his assorted greens. Carrots, grapes and other fruits are actually like cookies or dessert. They need to be in very small quantities especially if given often throughout the day. Raisins or craisins are perfect for that reason. A grape is still a treat if cut in half, so your Dad could give a half a grape once, then the other half with dinner later. He loves getting food from your Dad – just ration it out. Your Dad can treat him with healthy food as much as the sweets, like a cluster of Kale or some mint or parsley.
