I love those Dutch doors. I guess it depends how large your kitchen actually is and if you like having animals in there.

Not having a pen in there would certainly make it more liveable for you – I’ve only had rabbits in my kitchen in pens when bunnysitting, but now I can fit by bunny sitters in the rabbit room so no more kitchen.

I did not particularly like having a litter box and rabbits in my kitchen though – it’s not a large kitchen though so that made a difference to me. I have an ugly ugly linoleum I haven’t been able to afford changing so if they peed on it, I wouldn’t care but I always put an area rug under the pen so they had traction.

In my rabbit room – I have my three seniors in there – 2 have pens and one a 3 story condo – I’ve been letting Toffee run around unconfined but she’s pretty messy.

My other rabbit has free range everywhere but the kitchen and he’s very good with his litter box sans some teeny tiny poops that occasionally stray.

my bunnies have been in the kitchen for the past 2 weeks. one of them now knows the sound of cutting lettuce and the fridge opening and comes running up to you. SO CUTE! our kitchen is connected to the dining room/living room and is pretty mch one big room. i have an area set up for them behind the dinging table where the litter box is and there are boxes for them.
it works great.

Mine is in the kitchen in a pen because the archway is too big for any kind of door and even too big for the widest baby gate I could find. He is only allowed in the living room with the hall/bedrooms gated off when I am able to watch him because he is still a trouble maker when he gets excited. ( jumping on the bookshelves, knocking stuff down, digging at the carpet ).

He gets so excited whenever we open the fridge or handle a bag that crinkles, he thinks everything is for him and starts doing binkies in his cage and scouting me lol.
