Stickers is a pig – completely, totally, a pig. She would eat her whole 10lb bag of pellets in a day if I would let her. Well, yesterday she tried to do just that! lol I keep the bag closed with the ziplock it comes with and by the door to my room. Stickers figured out what was in the bag and how to open the ziplock with her mouth, so she opened it up (didn’t even damage the packaging with her teeth) and stuck her head into the bag to help herself.
Powder has figured out that the BAG of craisins has more in it than the hand holding out the treats with the craisins. So, when I got out the craisin bag to give them their nightly treat he pushed my hand out of the way (with the craisin in it mind you), climbed up on his back legs braced against me and stuck his head into the bag to grab 3 craisins instead of just the one I let him have usually.
What smart things have your buns figured out to do? ![]()
Hannah ninja-ed her way behind the couch. In the past she would grab the NIC grids blocking her path and pull on them, making it really obvious what she was doing. After me glaring at her and telling her no enough times, she gave up on pulling them and I thought behind the couch was safe. One day I realize our surround sound isn’t working and when DH pulls out the wires, they’re all snipped in multiple pieces (they’re thin wires, so one bite would do it). Little sneak! We left them roaming around one night while we were outside for hours and she must’ve done it then – she hadn’t even looked back there for weeks and I haven’t seen her try it again. I’m still impressed that she got back there without moving a single NIC panel (and then got back out) so it took us forever to even notice.
She’s also really good at getting over whatever barrier we place on the stairs. The stairs have a railing, so there’s one vertical railing thing (baluster?) per step. We used to have the gate down on a lower step, but she figured out she could just squeeze her fat butt in between the balusters and get behind the gate. I caught her smushed between the step and the NIC gate and she took one look at me, then backed right out. lol She’s also jumped over countless gates that DH devised so we could step over them – if we can step over them, she can jump them! Now we have one that’s two grids high and she can’t jump it, but she does take advantage of DH forgetting to put it back.
Otto never does anything sneaky – he’s not very bright. Though this morning he snuck up behind Hannah and bit her in the bum twice, then tried to mount her. She does that kind of thing to him all the time and he hates it, so maybe he was getting even? Unfortunately for him she just sat there and looked confused, instead of running away. lol
I love how both of your bunnies are so food motivated. Nothing is more important to a bun than food!
i prefer having normal bunnies because the instruction manual is shorter and i hardly use half the features anyways…

Funny thing is, Powder is only food motivated by craisins lol he really couldn’t care less about any other food, but he loves his sweets.
Mike! Your bunnies came with a manual? It took me months to figure out how to work mine, but I guess it’s because they weren’t new when I got them.
Dini is named after Houdini because no matter how secure I make a pen/cage/room he will find a way out. I can’t figure out how either! When I look none of the panels or gates or anything have been moved or disturbed. He’s a magic bun =P
Pacey is extremely food motivated. I bought bananas not too long ago and put them on top of the refrigerator. I left the room for 30 seconds and when I came back Pacey was sitting on top of the refrigerator chomping on a banana. I ended up taking the cabinet closest to the fridge and moving it.
Cinnabun used to have a cage connected to her Xpen when she was little and the cage itself is right up against the wall. One evening shortly before bed she suddenly got the bright idea for a break out. She hopped on top of her cage (before I got rid of the cage altogether, I used to keep a small bed on top in case she wanted to sleep up there), periscoped, and then jumped up towards the ceiling and whilst falling back to where she started, she twisted herself in such a manner that she landed outside her Xpen. I’m not sure if this is what she intended because she looked quite startled and then looked up at me–staring at her in horror from the couch–before taking off toward my bedroom.
Lolli got behind the couch last week. So now that she is completely blocked on either end, she proceeds to run from one end to the other, trying her darnedest to get behind it again. I have a pillow wedged between one end of it and the end table. She likes to try to pull that out. Only it’s bigger than her so she can’t. LOL For now at least, she is thwarted. Muhahahaha
I’m not sure if this is what she intended because she looked quite startled and then looked up at me
Honestly, sometimes I think they just try things to see if it will work and are surprised when it does. When I first got Eddie, he climbed on top of his cage which was connected to his xpen. I didn’t realize rabbits can/would climb so I didn’t know he’d climb up the freaking side. We both looked equally shocked when I discovered him. LOL
double post
You guys are scaring me LOL LOL! I’m reading all these posts and I’m like “Ummmm what kind of tricks is my bunny going to pull??” hahaha
I used to not make Milo’s xpen connected, I just used it to block off a corner of my room for him. He figured out that if he pushed it with his mouth at the parts where it bends that it would collapse the two panels together and he would do that until the last panel would collapse away from the wall. There were just to many times I would come home from class and he would be sitting on my bed looking guilty or I would be woken up at night by him digging in the pillow my face was on. So I decided to just make it a circle – less space for him, but no more escapes! Though he still tries to push the corners, which just ends up rearranging the shape of his pen. Some mornings I will wake up and the pen will have moved a good 6 inches towards the other side of the room…
We went out for an afternoon bbq the other night and came back after dark. When we opened the door from the garage leading into the house we heard the startled scattering of bunny feet on the wood floors…
Carmela had found the ONE grid on the NIC pen that was not ziptied and broke out… Peter was still in the cage, he doesn’t like coming out..
By the time we turned the lights on and the alarm system off she was gone. We couldn’t find her anywhere . So I pulled out my banana treats.. She appeared about 5 secs after I shook the bag. Needless to say, there was no ‘nana for her that night. We haven’t found any damage, yet.
She REALLY wants to be in the rooms that we close the doors on. So we have to outrun her when we go into a bedroom or and office. The minute you get off the couch she jumps up and has her “ready, set… go!” face on. When you get to the door you have to hold her back with a foot while you go in, like a persistent dog! Maybe we should just bunny proof all of it. But this way is probably more amusing. Haha!
Well, Hodari hasn’t even ventured outside of our bedroom, even though she’s free to at night if she wants to. She’s a pretty cautious little bun. I find it really smart of her, though, the way she uses her mouth like we would our hands, like Stickers opening that bag of pellets, for instance. Hodari does that a lot and very intelligently. When she’s eating her salad, instead of stepping around the plate to get what she wants, she picks it up and rotates it, like a lazy susan. When she has eaten all she wants, she will pick up the plate and set it aside so she can stretch out and yawn and take a nap. I have to be careful that she doesn’t toss the plate, though, because she will sometimes. She likes to dump the remaining salad on the floor so she can play with the paper towel that I place under it. ![]()

Also, she has a little rug she likes to sleep on, and when she’s done napping, she will often roll the rug up. She’s very tidy. She even smooths my hair out for me if some of it falls into her face when I am petting her. She reaches up, grabs a thick strand of it, and gently takes it in her teeth and tugs it ever so gently downward to smooth out the curl at the end.
It’s so sweet. Here are a couple of pics of her dumping her salad. In the second one she looks at me sheepishly like she is expecting me to scold her.

Parsley has worked out how to take the lid off the raisin jar, naughty bun! If he is in his x-pen and sees something he wants he puts his face against the rails and literally drags the pen until its in chewable distance, the other morning we woke up to find both my boyfriends socks in his pen lol! Also, just before i heard a crunching sound, naughty bun has climbed onto my open draw in order to snack on one of my baskets he knows he’s not supposed to eat!
caught mid chew!

Cinnabun knows she is not allowed on my desk, but that doesn’t prevent her from staring at me from the bed on top of her cage.
OMG, Parsley is so cute in that last pic.
i think that might be cinnabun you were looking at?
but i’ll take it, he is adorable! (so is cinnabun, love the expression) Good thing all these bun’s are so cute or they might not get away with such mayham!….actually who am i kidding, even if he was one eyed and hairless i would still be under his little paw..
Cinnabun and Parsley do look a lot alike! ![]()
I love little Cinnabun and Parsley. Such cuties. Cinnabun is being such a good girl, wondering what’s got your attention up there on that desk and why she can’t be a part of it.
I’m lucky Hodari isn’t sneaky and she’s not a climber. She’d never, ever try to get up on top of a refrigerator.
My goodness! She does like puzzles and such, though. She’s always got some project going, moving her grass tunnels into her willow tent, or whatever. When people ask about my bunny, I tell them she’s smarter than my German Shepherd.
When she was a baby, maybe four or five months old, it struck me how smart she is when she was walking on the edge of my bed; she was right behind me, so my body was basically forming a wall, and she was tip-toeing along the edge of the bed, looking down at the floor. She made several trips back and forth, trying to judge how far down it was and if she could jump down there. Then she did something surprising. She picked up on of her toys that was near my foot, a toilet paper roll, and she deliberately dropped it over the edge and watched it fall to the floor. I swear it was like I was watching a cartoon or something, where the main character is trapped on a narrow ledge of a canyon and to see how long a drop it is, they toss a rock down the canyon.
