I think it’s right to be concerned that the cat leave the water bowl alone. I don’t believe it would poison them, but it needs to stop.
One idea is to put their water dishes in a covered area that you can keep the cat away from. Maybe a cardboard box upside down with an opening for the bunnies and the water dishes inside, but in a place that the cat doesn’t get to, or is so visible that you can see it happen. Just to discourage your cat.

Another solution is to switch to hanging water dispensers, if the bunnies will drink from them. It would be less like the cat’s own water dish. Is there any flavor or scent that your cat doesn’t like that won’t bother the bunnies that could be put near their water bowls to discourage the cat?

Forgot: I haven’t tried that new Oxbow food yet, and was wondering the same thing myself. Thanks for posting the ingredients. It’s possible someone has checked it out and can reply.

My basic philosophy is, if it’s healthy and my bunny likes it, whatever the food, don’t switch. If you do decide to, do it gradually, mix old and new together for a week, and then switch over completely if your bunny is clearly eating it. An abrupt change in diet can cause tummy trouble.

I’ve asked about cats and rabbits sharing water bowls on another list a long time ago and one of the list members asked her vet one time and the vet said it was not a concern, so it’s not a problem – now sharing a litter box, that’s a huge problem.

Oh and the pellets, I’ve bought them but haven’t used them yet – I will probably just mix them in with the Oxbow Basics. That’s what I do with the Oxbow Organics – mix it up w/the basics.

My cat, rabbit, and dog have shared the same bowl for years. I imagine it would be a problem if they didn’t get fresh daily, but they do. Actually the way cats drink is really odd… Look up slow motion videos of it.

My cat does that too, the little stinker! She always has a bowl of water available but when the bunnies come out for play time, she will sneak in their condo and drink their water. Forbidden water is tastier! Ive started making sure their condo doors are closed. As far as I know, rabbits cant catch anything from cats. I just worry about it because Savana (my cat) walks in the litter box, then washes her feet with her tongue and there could be bacteria from that.

Ive heard about the new Oxbow food. My pet store hasnt gotten it in but I dont plan on changing. Oxbow pellets are already one of the best quality pellets and my bunnies are all happy with it. If its not broken, dont fix it.

Our rabbits used to drink from kitten’s water bowl, not even mentioning sharing food )
