I also always search on retailmenot.com for coupon codes so I can get the hay at a lower cost. My area does sell like kaytee hay but not in a big bag i have 2 buns so buying that hay would get expensive. I have tried other hays and nothing compares to oxbow hay. I actually just received a 25# bag today. I order 25# or 50# i only know of petfood direct that will sell 50#. 25# last me about 4 months and that is for 2 buns. Hope this helps. Also you could mix the other stuff in with the new or if you don’t want to use the old stuff and there isn’t anything wrong with it you could donate to a local rabbit rescue group!

I use Oxbow pellets and hay. Its definitely expensive but its the best quality hay I can get. I cant order hay because the shipping in Canada is ridiculous. I find the quality of Oxbow varies greatly though.

Have you tried buying a bale from a horse farm. My buns liked they hay from the barn I used to keep my horse.

I have tried other pellets and my bunny didn’t do good on any other pellet. So I stick to oxbow and I persoanlly won’t feed nothing else!

I personally use orchard because it is softer and it’s what I feed my horses My vet recommends Orchard over Timothy for older horses/horses with dental problems because it is softer Maybe you could try the orchard? I know my buns love it!

I usually get Oxbow but now I’ll have to find a new place because I can’t support a petstore that sells cats and dogs, like I just found out this one does. There is such an over population of animals, I refuse to support crap that encourages breeding. So, now I have to check other stores and hopefully find somewhere or else I’ll be stuck ordering online also.

As for the pellets, is Todd an adult? They don’t really eat many pellets, so while it’s a little expensive, it should last a while. Or maybe you can experiment with something cheaper and mix them? Like 1tablespoon of each to stretch out a dollar?

You can get American Pet Diner Tomothy Gold, which is a second cutting, soft Timothy hay. It comes in the small 10 oz bags, and you can get it in 5 lb. bags too. Binky Bunny store has the small bags, but I’m not sure about the large bags. I get the 5 lb. bags from http://www.drsfostersmith.com.

I also like Zupreem Timothy hay. It is not stated what type of Timothy it is, but it has always been a soft, fresh hay that my bunnies really like. They don’t have that at Drs. Foster & Smith, but I get it from http://www.petfooddirect.com. It’s also available at other online retailers. Even though some of the pet supply stores sell Zupreem pellets, none of them carry the hay, so I have to order it..

I was not happy with the last 2 or 3 bags of Oxbow Timothy, and my bunnies didn’t like it much either. It seemed dry and with mostly hard stalks. I’m sure that’s a lot of fiber, and probably good for their teeth too, but if your rabbits don’t like it and won’t eat much of it, then they’re not getting much fiber anyway. I do still buy Oxbow orchard grass, botanical hay and organic meadow hay, but for Timothy hay, I’m using APD Timothy Gold and the Zupreem.

I do use Oxbow pellets, and those have always been good quality.
