The best way to get your rabbits to come out of their cage is to let them come out themselves
. It sounds like you might have some shy little ones…when you have a few hours, try leaving the cage open and letting them wander out. Instead of holding food and trying to bribe them out, maybe you could lay out a trail leading farther out of the cage. If they go right back into the cage after eating all of the food, don’t worry..it just takes time. Bunnies are the most active in the morning and in the evening, and they’re naturally curious and will eventually start poking their noses around to see what’s outside.
Grabbing them is probably not helping, and definitely more scary than anything. When they come out to explore, try playing the “ignore game”…sit on the floor and let them approach you at their own comfort. Treats definitely help too
.
Also, what kind of flooring do you have? A lot of bunnies don’t like slippery flooring like tile or wood floors, and putting down a rug can make a huge difference.
