Can you just put her in the x-pen and take the cage away?

I don’t have an xpen, but I used to have basically the NIC cube equivalent attached to a large dog crate. I took an old bedsheet, cut it to size, and made a canopy for the “roof” of the xpen. Worked like a charm for Zeus, he just needed the visual of “hey, this is blocked up here, you can’t jump out” to stop trying. If you have a crafty bun or an escape artist you might want something sturdier.

I would take the cage out and give her a nice hidey house for her. Make sure it has two doors though (rabbits like escape routes).

Can you take the top off of the cage? Is it one of those that has a pan on the bottom? That is what my mom has for her rabbit. Just the plastic pan part. She keeps the hay and food in there so it is easier to clean up.

Though the sheet is a decent idea as well. That is what I use when I set up an x-pen for the bunnies outside. It isn’t predator proof of course, but it is in an already fenced yard and the main purpose is to keep them out of sight of birds of prey and for a little shade.

You can buy mesh covers for xpens on eBay or amazon, the ones I’ve seen are some sort of canvas on one half and mesh the other so they have shade, they usually have clips that stretch over the sides so they fit a variety of sized pens, have you seen them?

I used a fitted sheet when I had an xpen and used cloths pinned and pinned it to the top the cloths pins should be outside of the xpen.
