I moved Zephy the guinea pig’s cage to the floor so I could expand the cage a bit.  Now Zeus can see her when she moves about.. and every time he sees her move in her cage, he runs away and then THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!s.   Then Zephy runs back into her house at all the scary thumping sounds… Zeus then stares back at her cage, perking his big lop ears as best he can, like “WHAT was THAT?!”

They did this almost all morning, until Zeus came up and snuggled on the futon with me.  Poor Zeus, scared of a little bitty guinea pig.

Hahaha. So cute that they’re both terrified of each other.

If I had a pig, I’d be tempted to let them have exercise time together. I know things can go wrong, and I wouldn’t house them together, but I’ve seen a number of rescues who keep pig/bunny pairs so it can’t be all bad. I guess it’s hard to do that if Zeus keeps freaking out though.

I’m hoping he’ll calm down about Zephy over time, I think for now he just gets surprised by seeing the movement.  I might let them sniff through the bars eventually, not sure on letting them loose together.  Zeus is just SO big, and Zephy is SO small.

Hahaha, you guys are a bad influence!  I definitely need to get a pic of 10lb Zeus running from like.. 1/2 lb Zephy.. then thumping.. then Zephy running from the thumping.
