  I introduced myself and my two buns – Doyskii and Minstrel – plus my bridge bun, Rooney on the Welcome thread. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what breed Minstrel is. I know Doyskii is a Dwarf Hotot and Rooney was a REW meat bunny. But I dunno what Minstrel is. I think she’s a French Lop but I have no clue to be honest. I got her from a friend when she was about eight or nine weeks old. She had gotten her in the pet shop but seeing as this is China, the workers didn’t speak much English. They mostly only said that she wasn’t a dwarf and would be big. When I first took her in she was very thin and after about two weeks still wasn’t gaining any weight. Took her to my vets who are both rabbit savvy being that they are Small Animal vets. They noticed that her teeth on the left side were over grown and recommended she eat more hay than anything else and to feed unlimited pellets to help her weight issue. I had only been giving pellets in the morning and very little. She’s the youngest rabbit I’ve ever had. Rooney and Doyskii were both over six months when I got them. Minstrel is only about 14-15 weeks now. She has unlimited pellets (Oxbow Young Rabbit) and Unlimited Hay. I’m going off track here
  
  So she weighs about 2.4lbs which is more than double when I took her to the vet when she was too skinny. I don’t mind what breed/s she is, I love her regardless. I’m just curious.

  She’s so cute! I’m not sure what breed, but at only 2.4 lbs, she’s probably a mini lop. Mini lops get to be about 5-6 pounds.

  Shes’ cute but I agree, at this point it’s hard to tell what her actual size will really be…I think most likely though she will be a mini lop…but then again, that’s pure speculation on my part.

  Very cute!! I’d agree with Beka that at her weight, she’s probably a mini lop – they are 5-7lbs when full grown, but it’s really hard to tell until she’s full grown.

  Thanks so much guys! She is cute! And she’s a very good girl. Her and Doyskii LOVE each other. That’s another question I have. I only let Doyskii and Minstrel socialise together when I’m around to supervise them as she hasn’t been spayed YET. He was castrated on 11th Jan but he still tries to hump her, I always pull him off her everytime he does it but I was wondering is there any chance that she could get pregnant if he does it? I NEVER leave them alone together, not even for a second.

  Oh and when he tries to hump her he doesn’t always go for her back end, he sometimes tries her head so could it be dominance? I know my dogs (all neutered) do it to each other to assert dominance.

  Not since he was altered that long ago..their sperm are usually viable for up to 30 days after the procedure, so it’s not a problem. Yep, humping the head is common, but you want to discourage this…she could bite his backend and that would not be good – not that any bite would be good.

  Everytime he tries I take him off her straight away and say no. Nine times out of ten if he makes the move again and I say No, he stops.

  Humping is definitely a dominance thing – my female was a humping machine when I was bonding them. It will settle down over time.
  
  Since he’s been neutered for more than 4 weeks, he definitely can’t impregnate her now. Generally it’s ok to let some humping go on if the humpee is ok with it, but humping faces shouldn’t be allowed because the humpee can bite some very sensitive areas if they get upset.
