Well, we can’t say for sure that his old foster mom could board him, I would definitely contact them though first and foremost and ask.

I just want to mention a caution about posting the exact dates you’re going to be gone and definitely do not give any indication of where you live. Sadly, people (ie. thieves) peruse the internet for empty homes and places like Facebook make it so easy for them to know now. This website is open and the member count is international and thousands of people are members who never write a post or reply. So if you can, don’t mention when (sometime in March is fine I guess. “This spring” would be better for example.), how long and where.

I have plans coming up this spring, but I will keep silent deliberately on all my social network pages until after the fact. Of course, I can never remember what day it is today, much less the date, so that makes it easy for a squirrel brain like me!

I would contact the rescue and see if they have boarding or if the foster mom would be available to watch him. Many times foster homes get a new bunny in when they succeed in adopting another out, so there is no guarantee she has space for him. Maybe if you can provide his pen, she’d be able to squeeze him in somewhere else temporarily. The good thing about her watching him is she’s familiar with him and she’d get the opportunity to see how great he’s doing with you.

From what you’ve shared, I can tell he is becoming very comfortable with you and you’re doing a fantastic job. This trip is just for a short time, so try not to fret about it too much. Put him somewhere so you’ll be able to relax and enjoy your trip.

Most rescues that I’m familiar with will board rabbits, especially ones that they have adopted out. I would call them up or send them an email and just say how long you’ll be out of town and what dates and see what they say. If they don’t do boarding, most vet’s offices will, so try the vet you take him to and see what their set up is. I wouldn’t leave a rabbit with a vet who only had a dog and cat room, but many exotic vets will have a small quiet room for rabbits and other small pets to stay in.

Another thought is hiring a pet sitter who has rabbit experience. If your dad will be home with the dog, then perhaps your bun can stay home with your dad and the pet sitter could come in and do all the work?
