  Some of you know the behavioral problems I have been having with Molly lately. She is just about 6 months old now. She is pooping wayyyyy too much outside her litterbox, being more destructive than normal, and peed on my bed for the first time. I am doing my best to have patience with her, but I’m not going to lie…I want to scream right now. The latest developement in her behavior is making me crazy.
  
  Ok so I have had no sleep…first let me begin by telling about how when I came home from work last night, I found Molly had pushed her litterbox all around in her pen, and had litter flung EVERYWHERE! I cleaned it up, and that was that. Well last night while sleeping, I hear her digging. She is flinging out all the litter again from her litterbox!! I couldn’t stop her!!!!!!! Half of it goes in her water dish, I empty it out and get her new water (this is like 2 a.m. btw) just to find when I clean up the litter mess she is throwing it out of her litterbox AGAIN! She did this all night long!!!! She just kept digging and scratching like a lunatic! I’m so tired!
  
  I hope her spay next helps with these problems idk what to do. I’m going to order a litterbox with a screen on it so she can’t dig in it, but idk how long it will take to arrive from the BinkyBunny store…sigh..8 hour shift today and I’m already tired…. I love her but I need some order again. I can’t blame her if its hormones, but I still need to get this under control. I wasted so much litter last night cuz she got it all wet from her water dish…

  Yes, that is frustrating but it sounds like normal rabbit behavior.
  
  The screen will help quite a bit too. Once she realizes she cannot dig, that behavior will go away. Does she stay in your room? I would consider moving her out of your room if you can so you can get some sleep.
  
  It is definitely age related and hormone related. Keep in mind that spaying will not make this behavior go away right away and digging may just be something she’s doing because she is bored.

  I am still living at home, and I have no choice but to keep her in my room cuz my dad would freak if I moved her. I’m lucky he is putting up with letting me keep her in my room. He is a “bunnies belong outside” kind of man :/ In a couple months I will be moving out, so I will have that option. I know she might still be like this a couple months after spaying, but I just hope its not permanent. I put a grass mat in her cage that she likes to chew on and dig at. Hopefully she will dig at that while I’m at work today instead of the litterbox. I’m dreading going home and finding a huge mess again.

  Also, her nails do need cut they are getting long. Could this possibly be a reason for all the obsessive digging? I just thought of that.

  This is absolutely normal. It doesn’t make your life any easier, but at least you know it’s not you or anything you’re doing or not doing.
  
  My mini rex was a holy terror before she was spayed. Spaying “fixed” her, almost immediately. She can still be wild and rambunctious, but she’s calmed considerably. So just hold out, keep her exercise supervised if necessary. And just count down the days.

  Haha I am definatley counting down the days. Her surgery is March 14. I used to be able to let her run around my room and leave for a few minutes at a time, and she would never get into mischief. Now I have to keep an eye on her the entire time she is out. If I turn my back she has her paw on the nuclear missile launch button!

  My mini rex was a digging MACHINE before she was spayed. Hormones can make the girls want to dig, dig, dig a den. After the spay she still digs a bit, but not obsessively. You can also make her a diggy box, to get that need out in a safer and not quite as loud way. Keeping a bun in your room is going to be hard on you though if you wake up to noises easily, they love to be active late at night/early morning. I recommend ear plugs!

  Oh my god I know! I am an extremely light sleeper. When I move into my own place she will not be in my room at night cuz she likes to stay up all night :/
