As some of you know, Molly is getting spayed next month. Officially March 14 to be exact! Worried…
Anywho…my plans were after she was spayed (obviously after she has had plenty of time to heal) to get another bunny and bond them. A few question/concerns I have:
1. What if they don’t bond? What do I do then? Is anything possible with enough time and patience, or is there a chance they will never like eachother? If I take on another bunny I wouldn’t want to dump it off if they don’t bond (not that I would, I’m just saying). He will be my responsibility until he reaches the rainbow bridge. But I can’t keep them in separate houses if they hate eachother
2. Have you ever heard of bunny “play dates”? I mean I havn’t, but I’m wondering if there is a way to try out and see if bunnies will bond before you take them in forever. I don’t want both of them to always fight, thats no good.
3. I am moving away in a couple months. It will be 10 hours away, and want to wait til after the move to get a new bun. Obviously the new place will all be “neutral” territory, so I think that would be the best time to introduce a new friend?
4. I know another bunny will be more financial responsibility, and I wouldn’t take in another one if I couldn’t afford it. Molly was from a petshop. This time I want to adopt a rescue, one that is already spayed/neutered. Should I get one who is younger like her, or maybe one who is older? Does age play a factor at all?
You don’t have to answer all the questions, but any tips would be appreciated. I won’t be getting another bun immediately, so I want to educate myself beforehand. I plan on reading through some older posts and such to learn what I can.
