So I hate craigslist. I went on innocently to look for temporary jobs to help with my financial crisis right now and somehow I end up running across a post for someone looking to get rid of a rabbit he bought for his grandkids. I didn’t find any jobs and now I can’t get that rabbit out of my head!

        Anyone else have this problem?

Did he post in the jobs section :~) I just never ever look at Craigslist because of this.

No… I might have “accidentally” clicked pets. I know I shouldn’t of but it used to be a habit of mine. I probably won’t go back to that site but now my problem is getting that poor bun out of my head. This happens when I see a rabbit at a petstore too. I get caught up thinking how unhappy they must be with people picking them up all the time and being stuck in a cage.

luckily, it seems that the craigs in my area just have breeder rabbits and not throw aways. So I cant say that I run into this too much, but I know that when I look onto the Yahoo Answers and see questions asked about what is the best animal for me and they go on to say, I dont have much time, I get bored easy and I have these other animals, that really kills me and I just want to yell at them.

I know. I mean his reasoning for getting rid of is sorta legit- his wife is allergic. But from the dates posted he’s had it for a year! I just hope that he’s being treated well and gets adopted by responsible people. I’m starting to be against getting pets for children even though I had guinea pigs growing up, my mom was the responsible adult and helped us take good care of them but also like made it part of our nightly chores to change food and water. But we never really cuddled them. They didn’t like it just like rabbits.

There is nothing wrong with KIDS having pets, it is just when PARENTS think the kids should be fully responsible for the pet, that the problem arises. Yes it is “the kids pet” but really it is the family pet and you better be willing to take full responsibility for it because 90% of kids won’t be able to take care of a living creature properly. *sigh*

But, don’t despair, not all craigslist bunnies go to bad homes – Stickers was a craigslist bunny and she says she got a proper slave and a husbun out of it, so it isn’t all bad. I try to avoid craigslist too, because I always want to take all the animals home.

Oh I hope I wasn’t offending. I just meant the same thing as you, if a parent is going to get a pet for their kid, they should be prepared to take on the full responsibility of that pet’s care.

And yay for stickers winning good slaves! The only good thing about my stupid choice to go onto craigslist pets was that I found a rescue that actually needs volunteers to play with kittys/cats. I’m allergic but Andy, my bf, loves them and loves playing with them so we wrote down the phone number. I always feel guilty about not being able to get one so hopefully this will help (as long as he doesn’t fall in love with one of them).

lol very little offends me I was just pointing out that kids having pets isn’t bad, it’s the parent not the kids at fault.

If you’re allergic, you could always find a sphinx in need of a home, they have no fur so nothing to be allergic to.

I tried to suggest that to him but he said, “its not the same”. I’m pretty much dating a child. I also know that once the cat grew up and if it didn’t play a lot he would lose interest in it and that would be sad for the cat. His aunts have cats he can visit and my parents have outdoor cats too. He just wants to play with kitties. LOL

lol aha, well, probably best you’re allergic then since the cat care would fall to you ! And then bunny would need to put his slave back in line cause all your time belongs to him.

hehehe yeah. That’s what my mom said when I showed her craigslist ad. She said, you already belong to one bunny right now and he’s not ready to share you

Yea..ughhh, Craigslist. Just a word of advice, with Easter coming up it’s the worst time of year for Craigslist browsing anything relating to bunnies unless you want to tear your hair out with anger and frustration .

When it comes to craigslist my mantra is “step away from the computer.”

Sadly, what had started out as a promising source for local listings, like pets or jobs, has really been corrupted by all kinds of bogus or irresponsible people. Even some sob stories we’ve heard about in ads for bunnies have turned out to be lies to get rid of a rabbit fast, or came from a phony that was breeding.

Unfortunately, I stopped using it early in my job search as well because I got contacted by someone with a very legitimate sounding job description, that emailed me and followed up with weirder and weirder details. It scared me. If you do see an ad you like, since they are mostly anonymous, try contacting with an alternative free email address like one set up with Yahoo, and then insist that they give you their company name, address and website so you can call back and confirm they are legit. After that, I learned that the locals using it for ads were often really cheap, since it didn’t cost them anything.

Try Indeed.com and Careerbuilder.com. They are fine search engines and don’t have bunny ads.

Thanks. Ya I saw easter decorations at JoAnns yesterday with Andy and was like awwhhh bunnehs! Then was like crap its almost time for that holiday where a lot of people get them just for Easter then dump them afterwards

And thanks RabbitPam. I was just trying to find something I could resell or a project I could do to make some money but not be in a commitment. I’m suppose to be not full-time working to focus on school and my health but I feel very broke right now :/

Yeah, I look at the craigslist pets often, it makes me sad. The other day I saw someone wanting to trade their chinchilla for a 4-wheeler. I was like REALLY??????? REALLY??????????????

Same! I volunteer at the humane society and I just want to take everybody home. There’s a bunny currently there who looks a lot like my bridge bunny On the other hand…9 rabbits were adopted this week!

well that’s good news! I want to volunteer at my local rabbit rescue but I’m really afraid of getting attached. I’ve always had that problem

It is very hard. I go on my City’s kijiji site often looking for horse tack and there are often bunny ads that make me angry and upset.
