  I think Zoe might have stasis or gas (has NEVER had this). She was a bit diff. today but thought she was just having a lazy day. Her tummy feels hard and has not eaten since the morning and is huddled in a corner. I know i have to take her to the vet ASAP but my husband doesnt get home from work until around 10pm and I have the twins whom I cannot take out right now. I have some of that colic medicine for babies, can I give her this while my husband gets home?!!!! and how do i do it??? do i syringe feed it to her??? please someone answer. Im calling my husband to see if he can hurry up.

  Have you phoned the vet and asked if there is something you can do in the interim.
  Unfortunately I don’t have any answers and it doesn’t like like any one who does is about. I’ve heard mint is good for mild temporary relief until vet treatment is administered, but once again I’d say… Call the Vet and see what they recommend until you can get there.

  MB is right, simethicone is handy for stasis! Is she drinking at all? Its important to keep her hydrated but without giving TOO much water for the blockage…

  It’s morning here now and I’m just seeing this. Did you get to the vet yet, or get your vet on the phone?
  She does need to be seen, but also watch to see if she made any poos early this morning, which will indicate that her gut is moving at least. If not, you may have to just drive to the vet and ask to have her squeezed in. (Often a vet will let you leave a bunny there for the day, check her between appointments and start treatment which takes time while the vet moves on to other duties.)

  {{{Zoe}}} So sorry to hear. It’s handy to have Oxbow critical care on hand in case of stasis, as feeding gets the gut moving. In a pinch crushed pellets will also work -though this is for future reference as I imagine you have seen a vet by now-I hope to hear soon how everything went!

  Hi guys, sorry I didn’t answer any sooner but I had my hands full with Zoe. She is doing better, YEAHY. She pooped for the first time today in the afternoon PLUS is eating on her own. The vet gave her some IV fluids and medication but she still looks a bit down. She did in fact had stasis =( and apparently it wasn’t a recent incident, she had been having symptoms but I just didn’t see them, It didn’t seem she was in any pain just a bit sluggish. Actually I have some a few questions, about stasis…. Zoe gets outside time, it used to be during the day but ever since I had the twins, I’m too busy to be watching her outside so I take her out around 6-8 (twins stay soundly asleep during this time) so that I can be outside with her (I’ll usually do some gardening at this time). She eats A LOT of grass while she is outside so I’ve been wondering can this cause stasis??? She loves the tall grass and will just munch on it during the whole time she is out there. Also the night I took her to the vet I thought she had diarrhea because I cleaned up from the floor like this yellowish-brownish viscous liquid (some what like phlegm) was this in fact diarrhea or urine???? I didn’t mention this to the vet, just told him about her not pooping, eating, drinking, her tummy being hard, and the loud gurgling noises. Do bunnies get diarrhea when they have stasis??

  I think that it is common for them to have a little diarrhea during stasis.

  Glad she is doing better. Any food that can upset their tummies could cause stasis, usually grass wouldn’t be a problem, mine eat grass, as long as it is fresh and not any clippings from the lawn mower, etc which can cause stomach problems for them. Also, do you use anything to treat the lawn at all? Fertilizer? Pesticide? Do you have other pets that might be using the lawn for a toilet? Those would make grass unsafe, but otherwise I don’t see why it would hurt her. Certain plants can be toxic though, if she got into some weeds or flowers that buns shouldn’t have.

  Oh I just thought of something from Stickerbunny’s post, do you have creeping charlie in your yard? We have a lot of it mixed within the grass in our area, it’s poisonous to rabbits but they will definitely try to eat it, my rabbit almost did once.
