So tonight I decided to use Tipsy’s vegies as toys, well, kind of toys.  I gave her a scavenger hunt!  I have decided to do it every night!  She gets so excited!  I was washing my face getting ready for bed and I had her vegies sitting out on my dresser and she caught the smell of them and was trying so hard to climb up on my dresser, so I thought, might as well make her work for her vegies tonight if she wants them so bad instead of just handing them to her in a bunch.  So I put some on each level of her Cottontail Cottage, some under her stuffed animals, and some under her grass mats and she spent about 15 minutes searching for every last scrap of vegie.  I know, that if I do this every night, I am going to have to come up with some good hiding places or she is going to catch up with me!!

Do any of you do the scavenger hunt with food?  Does it help with any behaviors in your buns (just a curious question I guess)?  Where do you hide your vegies?

Ooo I like this idea!! I know for sure it would work with Totoro, he’s crazy about veggies (any food in general actually lol). Maybe not Wilbur though because she’s not too interested in veggies :/ weirdo bun.

I do something similar with pellets, I mix some up in their hay so they have to work for them and hopefully they eat more hay as well.

Sometimes I make a diggy box and put pellets or craisins under paper and hay for them, but Powder gets huffy if I hide his food, he’s much too lazy to work for it lol Stickers doesn’t mind though.

That’s a great idea – rabbits love foraging. You can try it with pellets as well.

Love that idea!! I usually put the veggies in Molly’s cage as a way to get her to go in her cage for the night, but I’m going to try hiding them around the room I think she’d love it
