Adam West had her vet visit today…
Yup, Adam West, now known just as “West”, is a girl. Luckily she’s tattooed and the vet was able to look up the tattoo and determine she is spayed, thank goodness. The vet was also able to give me a general idea on her age. She’s a “young adult”, vet said maybe in the ballpark of 2ish. So she’s close to Zeus in age (he’ll be 4 this Feb), which I’m very glad for.
.
The vet also discovered West has a crooked front leg.
. I noticed it a little bit but I thought she was just standing funny. Vet thinks it is most likely a birth defect, or possibly an old injury. Vet said she should be fine on it, to just keep an eye on her and if she starts to develop sores on the paw or anything to bring her in, but that she doubts it’ll cause any problems since she’s near adulthood and is fine on it now.
I asked about the soft poops with the romaine, and she suggested just sticking to hay and a TINY bit of pellets (or I could forgo the pellets entirely) for a week or two just to let her body regulate to the new environment and then slowly introduce greens again. She also thinks a large part of the problem is she’s fat, and can’t reach back to get her cecals. So I need to get her as much exercise as possible, and continue to reduce her pellets. Right now she’s 4lbs. A fat bunny, at 4 lbs! She’s so tiny.
.
It was an enlightening visit, and I was very impressed with the vet. It’s the same vet who will be doing Zeus’s neuter, so I was glad to meet her in person. West was none too happy about the vet visit.. she bit the vet on the shoulder and grunted at her.
. Fiesty bun!
so she is a May West 🙂
Glad to hear the visit went well and you like the vet. And I guess…..congratulations on your new girl! ![]()

Thanks! ![]()
Oh funny! So welcome to Ms. West. Your new vet sounds wonderful too.
Honey West was also a female character on a TV show. (If we took the actor, Adam West, to a vet, what would we discover? Hmmm…..running around in tights and a mask….)
She sounds like her New Year’s resolution is to lose weight just like the rest of us. So glad to hear she’s healthy, and feisty. Feisty is good for exercising, so she will be happy in her new home with you.
Need to see more pix of her, though. Hint hint.
AWW! IT’S A GIRL ;D

Yeah I was very impressed with the vet. She was obviously confident and well versed in bunnies.
.
RabbitPam; Here ya go! No super awesome pics yet, as she’s still kinda wary, and usually goes into her house whenever the cage door opens.
.

^ You can see her little crooked front leg in this pic, the right foot. It points inwards.

^ West says, “Excuse me, this is MY house!”

^ Her very impressive dulap. My fiance calls it her “chin mattress”.
.
Uppy eared rabbits are so funny. Their ears move so much!
Oh, what do you guys think on her breed? I don’t think she’s all Dutch.. ears are too tiny and a little on the small side for a Dutch, at 4 lbs and overweight.
.
I do know she’s 100% cute! ![]()
I think she’s a Netherland Dwarf because of the ears. She’s very cute.

Do Nethies come in her color? I know nothing about non-lop breeds.. ![]()
She appears to be a Netherland Dwarf/Dutch mix. A true Dutch has a more square face and longer ears and more defined markings – they have the pants and the mask. Dutch rabbits are small as well.
Netherlands come in colors as well just like any other rabbit.
Well first of all on the gender I just have to say……..HA! Knew it! LOL…j/k…but her tatt, her shyness and Zeus taking immediate interest, plus the shelter being a little cluless…hey it happens to the best of us so….CONGRATS! It really was fate!
Zeus now has his “Hera”…or should I say HARE-A? lol
That is a sad thing about the leg. But it does sound like she’s already compensated. Perhaps she’s just been shut in a cage that was too small for too long also. She sure looks comfy in her new digs though …look at that happy bunloaf! ^_^
I was going to post on your other thread about romaine…none of mine can eat it. Gassy stuff. They love it but it gives them all upset tummies. Fiver invariably gets poppy butt. Store bought veg just don’t suit my three…luckily in summer I can supplement with outdoor greens.
Ultimately if she’s having trouble reaching those cecals you COULD grab them as they come if you see them and feed them to her. Not everyone’s thing but I’ve had mild success with my bunnies in this area. Or perhaps she can have any Zeus doesn’t want, but more than likely the hay only diet will both slim her up and firm up the cecals as well.
Chin mattress..humph…of all the cheeks…I mean…cheek! Lol….
All in all sounds like a win-win! So happy for you!
Welcome to the BB family Ms. West! (I love the idea of Mae West…she was a buxom gal too!) No idea on breed, except that she falls into the Cute Standard.
Zeus can sneak her in to the movies in one of his ears! xD
As for the leg, it’s possible she may be a candidate for arthritis in her later life.

Yeah you totally called it!
. Zeus was probably thinking, “Stop calling her a HE! It’s a girl dangit, you stupid human!”
.
Thanks for the info on the romaine! I didn’t know that. It’s Zeus’s favorite green and he’s never had issues, so I just assumed it was a safe green. I’ll have to give the cilantro a try.
Sarita; Yeah I thought about that. I’ll definitely keep that in mind.
Aww, Ms. West is so cute!
Could she be vienna marked like Wooly is? Sometimes vienna markings can mimic dutch markings.
I borrowed this image so you can see what I mean.

bahahahahah
Awhhhh well Ms. West is adorable! I love the markings on her face
Ooh Good call LB!
She’s lovely ![]()
Lol! Well, congrats Bunnnnnie.
Aren’t you tempted to call up the humane society where she was “by the way…”

I agree. that would give dutch like markings in non dutch breed. Possible she is a dutch cross though. I do agree with Sarita that she’s likely a nethie or nethie cross.
The round smushed face and the little ears definitely say Nethie to me. A bit big for one though, so likely a cross.
She’s adorable
Thanks for the pix.
Her nose marking in white reminds me of famous horses in the movies. They always had that grand look on their noses.
SHE is very beautiful!
Are you going to rename her?
Chin mattress rofl. I love her little round face in the side picture. With her twisted foot. I am glad she is doing ok with it. Rabbits do surprise us with their genders I tell ya.
