You know those hay ball holders? Like this one here?

        http://www.amazon.com/Super-Pet-Rab…supplies_4

Well I don’t recommend you buy one, but if you happen to already have one, here is a way to make it actually useable, at least for a small rabbit!

There is still a problem with hay falling out, but I would rather have hay fall out than have it so she can’t get any hay out of it! I also wouldn’t recommend it as your only hay source, but on the other hand, putting treat/special hay inside might be a more interactive way to get hay…

Anyways, I cut every third bar off so that there was a gap big enough for her to stick her mouth in. Then, and THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP: I sanded down the rough edges caused by the cutting. Don’t even bother doing this if you aren’t going to sand the edges. Then I spay painted it with rustolium, let it dry for a couple days, and this is my final product!

I had to tie the door shut since it won’t stay shut by itself. Again, this product is really cruddy, but it can be made semi-useful.

During the day, she has hay just thown in a cement mixing tub.

I have one and had a hard time figuring out the door but once I did it stays shut securely. Here is a little video I created to show how the door works.

            That’s a very helpful video.
