I have been wondering what kind of cages you use? Example cubes, ex-pens, hutch, etc

One of my rabbits is free roaming.

I have 2 in x-pens and my little Dutch pair are in a 3 story Leith Pet condo.

I built a 3 story condo with NIC cubes. My rabbit is free range, and can wonder as she pleases

So for those of you with ex-pens what do you put on the bottom?

Nothing, they have the normal carpet underneath.

we have tile floors, so that. Samson has a couple foam mats to lay on, and Lady gets a fleece blanket that I clean and swap out with another daily.

I use a ferret cage turned into a Pen, if that makes sense. I took apart a short but long ferret cage and used the baring to stretched it out and make it into kind of an X-pen.

Edit: What I use under the pen is just a big fleece blanket. Nava never really chewed on carpet and she uses the litterbox, so their wasn’t much of a worry for me to use a fleece blanket..

I use a 3 story 2×5 NIC condo but they are free range in my room 24/7.

well his cage is one of the larger store model ones but he’s never really in it except for when I’m at school. He has a whole walk in closet to himself (its like 8 by 6 ft). Its secured with a superyard panel but that’ll be soon replaced since he’s chewing it. He already went through one dog gate. Unfortunately, Bun Franklin likes to chew carpet and I’m renting so originally I put an old area rug in there that I didn’t mind being wrecked but I was worried he might ingest some so I just went out last weekend and bought sheet vinyl, cut it down and secured it with 2x4s and tape. It’s not completely set though seeing as the sheet vinyl moves when we walk on it. Eventually if the carpet chewing stops, and I get my room bun proofed (3 computers is a task) he’ll have free range of my bedroom.

Carpet can be okay, but some buns have a problem with ripping up/swallowing carpet, which can be very dangerous to their health. Make sure to spend time watching your buns in case you catch them doing this!

So could I leave them in there ex-pen in the carpeted room?

If your buns don’t chew up carpet, then yes. I have a carpet in my room but I still put a big fleece blanket down over the carpet.

I actually think that the fleece would not work because Arla and Austa are detroyer bunnies so I think tiles gonna have to work. c= Thanks for all your help!

I have a rug from Ikea with a cheap tarp under it, and an x-pen on top of it. Of course, the bunnies only sleep in there, all other times their ‘cage’ is mostly under my couch.

I use and NIC Cubes cage and personally wouldn’t use anything else. My bunny is in her cage when I am not home. Most of the time she is out running around!
