I would watch her today, but in the meantime, give her a gentle tummy massage. If it’s a little gas, it should help to pass it. You don’t have to pick her up, just give her long pets and work your way down and all over her body so she likes it, but particularly under her belly area. Make it pleasant for her.

If she passes gas you’ll either smell it or she’ll head for the litter pan again.

Next thing to try is to get a little box of baby simethicone. She can have a couple of drops (don’t get a brand that adds anything like flavoring, etc.). Then stock up her hay and don’t give her more treats. You want her to eat the hay a lot to pass whatever might be bothering her. since she’s pooped, it doesn’t sound as serious, but it may be leading up to something worse without attention. Be sure to give her extra water also. Cut back on any treats – fruits, snacks, even greens in the broccoli family like kale, until she appears normal again. If worse tomorrow, call your vet in the morning. (Do you have any critical care in the house for her? If so, you can give her a CC treat ball to munch on instead of a regular treat.)

Ditto on the simethicone and massage.

I gave Jersey simethi a bit during her 1st year. It always seemed to give her relief within 1/2 hr. Then the gas episodes got less as she got older. She recently had some stasis though and I found the long strokes over her body like Pam described to be something she got comfort from. I sat in a recliner tilted back with her resting on my chest and massaged down her sides and a little underneath.

Glad she’s better!
I had a brief little scare when Sammy was young, which she passed almost immediately. But it made me take others’ advice and just get some simethicone in the house. When she was sick last month, I tried it first, with no effect. That’s when I called the vet, but I was glad I had something to try handy.

 Hello, how is Sophie doing? My baby Sofia gave this kind of scare last week? She got better after I took her to the vet.

Unfortunately, last night she started acting up again. Like Sophie, Sofia is not entirely NOT eating or pooping. She does, except not in the same amount she did before. She’s also a pig and would beg for treats — like a dog  I’m really worried about her. She stayed awhile in the box earlier and when she left, there were plenty of poo pellets so I’m guessing she’s passing just fine. Her pee is another case…it’s not as much as before and it’s kind of more yellow than usual. I’m sorry…I’m really just to worried about her.

 No, I haven’t taken her to the vet yet as I’m still observing her. And also, I’m kind of careful since there are no rabbit-savvy vets in my area. No, Sofia isn’t eating her hay — when she does, just in little amounts. She also doesn’t drink so I wet her greens most of the time.

Great to hear Sophie is better now. I miss having my Sofia like that. I can imagine Sophie begging and acting as if she’s always starved…
