Sunday, when I was at work, this dog kept on running into the grocery store we were auditing. The manager was getting very frustrated and was going to call animal control. The dog was disgusting, dripping wet, covered in fleas, and bleeding, so I knew that it would most likely just get put down. I couldn’t let that happen, so I put it in the car (it was POURING down rain) and told them that I would keep it until we found it’s owner, since no one else seemed to be willing to do anything. While I was talking to one of the ladies who worked at the store, she said she remembered that there used to be this family whose dog (same type) would sometimes get loose and come up to the store, but they had moved. She said she would ask around and see if anyone had the lady’s number. So I went home, dog in hand.

Well, tonight, I got a call from a lady saying that it was her dog. She was able to tell me that she was wearing a pink collar and had one ear that pointed straight up and one that flopped, so I knew it was really hers (well, it was her mom’s) Turns out the dog had been missing for over a week and they had pretty much given up hope of finding her. Apparently, when the dog got loose, it returned to the place they used to live instead of where they live now!

The girl was so thankful! Her mom had just lost her husband and was already sinking into a pretty bad depression and loosing the dog on top of it was making things worse. The girl was also feeling extremely guilty because she was the one who was supposed to be taking care of the dog while her mom was at the hospital with her step-father.

It made me feel really good inside to be able to give the lady back her dog! Just thought I would share!

That is so sweet.    I am glad they found their dog.    I know he was in good hands with you til he could return home.

Seems while they were looking for the dog   he was looking for them .

I’m glad it has a happy ending :~) Sounds like the dog is loved and his owner is grateful.

What a great thing you did. A lot of people these days would never do that, take on an extra responsibility. Good for you!!! Be proud of yourself. Poor doggy woggy, happy they got him back. : )
