I know craisins are a popular treat and not sure if you guys use the cranberries, but if so, they have been recalled so check yoru craisin bags!

Just to add a note to what Stickerbunny said – this is a voluntary recall and probably wouldn’t hurt you to eat these. There are tiny metallic flakes. HOWEVER, since rabbits’ digestive systems are much, much more effective than ours, these could really throw them off and possibly injure them.

Do you know if they have been pulled from the store shelves?

Not sure – huffington post has it labeled “craisins yanked off shelves” but no article actually says they were removed… I assume so though, but maybe best to check when you go shopping.

Well, HRS shared this info on facebook (that’s how I heard about it). It seems to be spreading around the bunny community.

I don’t have Facebook so I really appreciate this being posted. I don’t think my two bags are part of the recall, but it’s kind of confusing how they’ve set up the lot numbers. I may just toss mine anyway.
My bunnies get too much processed sugar in these dried fruits. I recently picked up a bag of fresh cranberries and froze them to give as snacks. After a period of adjustment, they seem to like them just as well.

I give Chacha the 12 oz bag, and her and I share the blueberry craisins…. All is safe!
