        Hello there!

So I have had 2 bunnies fall into my lap this week. One is a 5 year old fixed female and the other is am unfixed male not sure how old (def under a year). They are both in need of homes, and I just lost my first bunny, Jenna, a month ago. So these two bunnies are at my house, and I was thinking about trying to fix the boy bunny and in a month trying to begin the bonding process. But does the age difference matter to bunnies? I was worried maybe she had lived alone too long and there was no point in trying? I haven’t committed to either of these bunnies yet, but I just don’t want to end up with two bunnies that have to live separately. Any advice?

        Justine

Age difference and size don’t matter, just personalities. Powder is four years old and Stickers is just under a year old, but I bonded them – he’s 6lbs, she’s 4lbs. If you want to try it, get him altered and wait for his hormones to die down, I let mine be able to sniff each other through a baby gate while I waited for the hormones to end. Then introduce on neutral territory and go slowly. Most rabbits can be bonded, it is just some are a lot more difficult than others. You won’t really know until they are both altered though.

Age doesn’t matter and neither does size, as Stickerbunny said. My 3 pound and 6 1/2 pound rabbits are getting along fine. Good luck with the new bunnies! They are so lucky you took them in! Remember to wait a full month after you neuter the boy before introducing them.

              Thanks for the replies!

I have decided that I will be keeping both buns! I am really excited, but TOTALLY nervous about bonding them. The female lop is pretty friendly already, and I have only had her since Wed. She nudges me, noses me, comes up to me. Total ham, I love her. The other bun is still pretty shy. He’ll run around the play area, and hes even come up to sniff me a couple times. So things are progressing nicely.

I’ll have to update when the bonding starts! I am going to schedule both buns for a general check up at my bun vet, and schedule the males surgery for hopefully next week if his health exam goes ok.

              Thanks again!!
