I have a 5 day break (with almost no homework heehee) and I wanted to take full advantage of it to bond Wilbur and Totoro, even though it was a couple days earlier than I planned. Their first bonding session was today in the the bath tub. I think it went pretty well. First Wilbur humped Totoro’s head and then Totoro kept trying to hump Wilbur, she wouldn’t tolerate it though haha and thumped at him. No grooming yet, but Totoro kept asking her to groom him. Both of them forgot most of their litter box habits (well Totoro’s aren’t so great either) while they were together, but I expected that. No agression yet, keeping my fingers crossed. Is grooming necessary for a bond to be created? How much of the humping should I interefere with or let them work it out themselves, of course always stopping from them humping each other’s heads,  (for them to figure out who is going to be more dominant)?

Here are some pics, excuse the poor  iPod quality and their mess lol. I sat in the tub and they started climbing on me, probably searching for treats.

Day 2: They have been in a closed hallway together for 4 hours now. No humping and still no aggression. Could it really be that easy? Am I going too fast? I set up the hallway with blankets, litter boxes, a water crock, two shoe boxes with hay, toys, and a cardboard hidey house. The hallway is not as big as their regular living spaces (they both have access to multiple rooms)  but they have plenty of room to run around. The only thing “bad” so far is their litter box habits, Totoro sprays and they both poop outside of the box, although Wilbur not as much. Still no grooming.

Grooming isn’t a needed thing for a bond to be created. My two are still working out grooming and they have lived together for months. o.O Powder will now groom Stickers when she asks, but she hasn’t groomed him at all, she makes him groom himself (AFTER he does her, she has to be first). They are fully bonded though and snuggle and sleep together and eat together, they just aren’t that into grooming each other. *shrug* Sounds like you have an easy bond in store for you.

Day 3: OMG what did I do to deserve this? The bunnies have moved in together. I redid the whole set up in my room adding and mixing Totoro’s things with Wilbur’s things. Well the two have been exploring it together. They even have been running around inside the Maze Haven, which I am so surprised by because I stick my hand in it and Wilbur grunts at it, guess Totoro is more special then me Tonight Totoro is going into the xpen in the room just to be safe. I had no idea it was going to be this easy. And I really don’t deserve it because I randomly picked Totoro without having Wilbur go on bunny dates with him first like I should have. I guess some things just work out

Edit: Right now they are both binkying and doing bunny 500s. WTH? I was expecting fur pulling and grunting.

Day 4: They are now fully bonded….I think. I found them snuggling together and Totoro was grooming Wilbur.

Awww. Even if there are some rough patches ahead, Totoro and Wilbur obviously like each other a lot, so I am sure it will all work out. Congrats to the happy couple!
