  Hi all, I’m new here and to Bunnies! No worries though I’ve done my research before buying my bunny. My bunny is almost 3 months old. I’ve had him for about two weeks now. He is a very loving and outgoing rabbit. Loves to follow me around, comes when called, and if I securely pick him up he let’s me hold him and falls asleep sometimes! Well, a few days ago things changed. I noticed he’s been sneezing, I figured it was from the dust in the hay but my Oxbow Orchard Hay doesn’t have a lot of dust in it. My husband when I first got the bunny stupidly left the window open (which the bunnies cage is right next too for two days straight! Plus where we live right now weather at night is under 40 degrees). So, I thought maybe that’s it? I let the bunny on our untreated grass and he started chewing so I put him back inside, so now I think, “did he eat grass where the dog pooped peed?”
  
  Here are his symptoms:
  
  -anti-social/doesn’t want to be handled
  -sits in his cage and when out hops little bit then sits in the corner under the bed
  -continuous sneezing/yellow crust around nose
  
  He is eating just fine! Thank goodness. But please, if you have any information. Do you think it’s snuffles? I really hope not. Thank you for your time and consideration fellow bunny lovers!! : )

  If there is crust you need to take him to the vet. I *think* occasional sneezing with no other symptoms is normal, but snot/crust is a sign of illness and can be quite serious in bunnies.

  A lot of bunnies do not want to be handled because they are prey animals, it could be a symptom though if he usually is friendly, however it also could be hormones kicking in or just him being a bunny. Crust is definitely a reason to go to the vet. Rabbits do not get colds though. I hope is okay!

  If there is discharge I would take him to the vet. Mine sneezes sometimes with no discharge and I’ve had the vet check him and she thought he might have allergies to cleaning products/scented things

  Snuffles is just a layman’s term for a respiratory infection. It’s not a huge deal. The vet will prescribe antibiotics and it should clear up. If it doesn’t clear up within a certain amount of time (a couple weeks) the vet will want to culture the discharge to see what is causing the infection. I’m guessing your vet is not open on Saturday, so Monday will be the soonest you can get in.

  It could be a big deal if its caused by an abscess or something though. Best to get started on antibiotics asap so the problem doesnt worsen.

  I think because he has become anti social (in comparison to what he was) and will go sit in a corner (along with his crusty nose), you should seek out a rabbit savvy vet asap. It’s the behavior that is worrying me — is he eating at all? Is he pooping?

  Yes, he’s eating a lot and pooping a lot as well. I noticed today though that his urine was brown compared to typically being yellow so I gave him water in a bowl instead of the bottle attached to his cage and that helped a little. I actually live in the bay area too, I was thinking of taking him to the Cat and Exotic hospital but it is soooo exensive. I found another rabbit vet in Petaluma which I will be going tomorrow morning which is much cheaper.

  Rabbits urine can change color from white to yellow to orange, that’s pretty normal. Good thing you found a vet, please keep us updated.

  Sometimes Totoro’s pee is yellow and sometimes it’s reddish orange (gross I know). It’s something to do with oxidization and/or pigmentation of the food they eat I have heard (so not sure if that’s true or not).
