My bun is currently in a petstore cage (I know- yuck) but it’s still appropriate for his size. But I’m a planner and know he will be growing out of it in a couple months and would like to start planning his Condo out now and build it over Christmas break.

So I found these http://www.amazon.com/Whitmor-4-Storage-Cubes-White/dp/B000LRGV3W/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_T1?ie=UTF8&coliid=I44V0SEUWH59Y&colid=30N0B9XVZWIW9 for the cubes…. are they right? (I can’t tell if the wires are 1 inch cubed)

Should I add wheels for when we move? (next Aug)

What do I do for flooring, ramps, etc?

He’s not 100% potty trained yet. He’s never had any pee accidents but if he’s still leaving “raisins” what should I use that’s easy to clean in the cage for the bottom surface? (hopefully he’ll get fixed and that will clear up before condo move in time).

OH and he’s not in cage majority of the time. Only when I’m sleeping and not home since he hasn’t learned that carpet is yucky and I’m too afraid of him actually eating it and getting sick. Basically I’m worried about a lot of things if he’s out while I’m not home (he could break a leg, escape, etc).

        Looking forward to your advice!

Yes, this is the right kind. If you add castors you need to put the cage on a platform.

You could build it on a plywood platform w/ wheels and cover it in those cheap linoleum squares. They are easy to vacuum or sweep off with a mini dustpan

Yea you should put wheels if you like but i think table legs are better. Wheels might not be stable enough unless you have stoppers. Get a piece of wood and pin the cage down and connect the wheels on the bottom .. I personally think table legs are better!!

For your C&C cage , yes those cube are not too big for your bunnies . I checked that out at Walmart. You should probably get 2 sets for your condo to make sure it is at least 12 square feet & tall enough for your bun. For flooring put shower curtain or water proof material such as corrugated plastic/ coroplast. I like shower curtain! On top add a fleece blanket. You can use a cat scratching post for ramp of connect the grids to the upper level.. If you use grids as ramp, make sure you put something on top so it doesn’t make your bunny’s feet sore.

Thank you for all the detailed advice. Luckily, the boyfriend works at home depot so I’ll be pesturing for him to help me with this construction. Although, on second though I’ll just be using his “discount” since he always builds things wrong. haha.

Oh and I know what you mean about not using any wiring for bottoms. I’m a new bunny owner and it bugs me to see “rabbit starter cages” at pet stores with wire bottoms. That and the food with all the junk in it but I wont go down that road either. I’ll probably buy most of my supplies on BB from now on.

But I’ll look at walmart too for the nic cubes. So far, I’ve only found them on online stores, not in actual stores.

OH and is there anything that I might be tempted to use to construct this condo that is harmful to Bun before I start shopping?

I don’t think you need wheels for moving – I find it easier to just collapse the NIC cages when I move, and then re-make them, since the space I want to put it into usually changes in different homes! Zip-ties are cheap and easy enough, and it is alot easier to move the cages when the panels are in a box.

I don’t think anything is dangerous to your buns when you construct it unless the zip ties are sticking in the cage. Make sure it is sticking OUTSIDE the cage or else it might poke your bunny’s eyes. The panel connectors are harder to put down..

There are some products that are harmful to rabbits if they are chewed but I’m not too sure of the list atm. I’m sure you could search around on here for it!
