I underestimated how HUGE x-pens are, they look so much smaller online. I added it on to Goblin’s house, now HIS area takes up almost my entire kitchen!

When I resized the picture it made it look so tiny, but it’s definitely not irl, the only room left in the kitchen is a 4 ft wide space to get from the living room to the fridge, but that’s fine, we only use the kitchen to cook, not spend time in.

I think this will be a lot better for him, he use to be free run but two weeks after his neuter he decided ALL THE CARPET must go. He ruined one spot behind my couch ( good-bye security deposit ) and was going after the hall next ( even when I was sitting right next to him! ) so he now must be confined to the kitchen until he hopefully grows out of it ( he is still young, 6-8 monthish is my guess )

Nice set up! Yep, After awhile rabbits tend to take over. My buns now have free range of my room 24/7
Does he still get time out of his pen?

Yes, but not as much as he use to, even when I am sitting on the floor playing with him he STILL goes after the carpet and starts ripping out fibers in front of the doors to the other rooms. I think he wants to go in them but he isn’t allowed.

Is he eating a lot of hay? I cut back on Samsons pellets and now she eats a TON more hay.I also give a variety now, they have one box of timothy and one of orchard to always choose from. Samson used to be really diggy, she’s made a couple gaps in the carpet that I hope the landlord wont notice :/ but ever since I upped her hay intake she hasn’t dug the carpets up at all.

Yes, he eats tons of hay, I fill half his litter box, hay rack & another box every night and he eats nearly all of it by bedtime the next day.

How long has it been now since his neuter? Right after their hormones go wild, which can cause some extra digging, but after about a month they usually settle back down. Have you given him dig boxes outside the cage to use ?

He got neutered on Sept 28 so it has been awhile and he still tries to tear up the carpet. I’ve given him two dig boxes but he won’t use them, he ignores them. He doesn’t dig at the carpet as much as he grabs mouthfuls and rips the fibers right out. I’ve given him two of his own carpets but he doesn’t dig or rip them at all.

Can you flatten the 3 panels against the wall to the right? That might help to optimize the space. It doesn’t have to be set-up in a circle.

This is the only way to set it up if I want to be able to go near the fridge ever again, lol. If I flattened another panel I wouldn’t be able to open the door, and if I moved it the other way I wouldn’t be able to use my cabinets. Our kitchen is really small because its only a 550 sq ft apartment

Ok, I moved some things around and I think this is as good as it is going to get with the space I have.

I think he likes it anyways, I went in and sat with him and he bumped my knee with his head and rolled over on his back right next to me, which he has never done before

That looks great! He must be very happy even if he can’t get into trouble chewing up the carpet as much anymore.

The set up looks great! I love the little tent thing, my daughters have a little pop up tent that the bunnies go nuts in. Weirdos

It is a cat toy from walmart, it was only like $2.50? He keeps hiding behind it though and I panic and think he has escaped and look around the apartment then I go back to his pen to look again and see a leg poking out.

One thing I would recommend (since I have a cage+xpen set up) is to put the litter box in the cage, along with hay. It makes clean up so much easier if all of the messy stuff is confined to the cage. Once it’s out in the pen it tends to go everywhere 😉

He has a litter box inside the cage, you just can’t see it behind the feed & his bungalow. He doesn’t potty in the box outside, I just sweep up the hay that falls out of his rack and put it in that box so he will eat it.

He certainly looks happy to me. 🙂

                                        That looks awesome!

Riley went through the carpet thing after his neuter too – I wonder why?? He would do it relentlessly! He did outgrow it, so don’t lose hope! He now can run around for hours every night without getting in to too much trouble (though he is now almost 5-years-old, and was neutered over 4 years ago!).

Anyways, nice set-up, I am very jealous!

Another option for you is getting rid of the petstore cage all together, and making the xpen into a 4×4 foot square that would fit snuggly in that corner. It would condense the space a bit, but still provide room for a single bunny, along with out of cage exercise time everyday.
