So my rabbits were spending the day outside in their (safe) outdoor hutch. Don’t worry, they only go out there on really nice days and it’s been warm and sunny (till today, it was raining) anyways, I was letting the dogs out when I was cleaing the bunnies indoor cage. I then looked over at the rabbit hutch to see the door WIDE open. I know Domnino wouldn’t jump out, but Nava might (she did it once when I first got her like 5 years ago, and my mom chased her around the yard because she wasn’t social yet so she wouldn’t come when my mom called her).
Well I went sprinting to the cage to make sure they were in there and as they heard my voice they came running out the house-hutch part of their cage looking for food.
If they got out I know Nava would come back and Domino wouldn’t travel far. Our yard is also completely fenced in, and we have big dogs so most animals stay out of our yard, but still the thought of it had my heart racing. I don’t know how the door opened by itself, but it was scary (they of course were like, “what’s wrong mom?
” Haha).
And THIS is why bunnies belong indoors, just in case an accident happens… and you lose your bunny friends.
Ps: I have really wellbehaved bunnies… Lol.
