  Hi guys,
  
  I wanted to ask if you all thought that my bunnies might be drinking too much water. This has been going on for the past couple of weeks.
  
  Because I run my two bunnies together it has been a little tough to identify who the primary drinker is, but I think it is Chocolate. I put out two bowls of water with about 2 cups in each bowl and refill it everyday. Recently, they have been drinking LOTS where there is only about an inch (or less) of water left in each bowl when I come back from school. They used to drink only about half the amount in each bowl–even in the summer-time.
  
  Chocolate and Sophia are still in the bonding phase and there has been lots of pooping and peeing outside the litterboxes. A lot of times they will poop/pee directly in front of the litterbox. Sophia, who so far has refused to eat veggies or fruit, has been dropping larger and moister poops (so I think that she is drinking more) and Chocolate seems to be peeing a lot more (or maybe it just seems like an extra amount b/c I have to clean it up outside his litterbox) and more often.
  
  We did switch them to a new brand of hay (still timothy, though)…could this be the cause?
  
  There has also been a lot of weird temperature changes going on (cold in the morning and hot in the afternoons)…could this be the cause?
  
  They went to the vet not too long ago (early last month) and seemed fine (other than them both being a little over-weight), but they were not drinking a lot of water then. I did a little research on rabbits drinking a lot, and it looks like it can range from being pretty serious to inconsequential. I just want to be sure of what other people think before we think about heading off to the vet again. Other than this they seem fine.

  Can anybody help me? Are they drinking a whole lot more than normal? Should I be concerned?

  I have heard that sometimes it is due to stress, maybe the bonding is stressing them and that can cause them to drink more water.
  
  Did the vet check their teeth at that time?

  I thought Cadbury drank to much water when I brought him home… seemed that’s all he did, but now that he is consistently getting his veggies, and the right amount his water intake has lessened dramatically. How much are you feeding your guys? maybe try uping the veggies to see if that helps??

  Rabbits do drink a lot of water, Wilbur and Totoro each drink 2 water bowls full a day and they get plenty of veggies. There seems to be a lot of different factors but it sounds like the bonding is causing this. I would keep a close eye on them for the next few days.

  I think that the traumatic bonding period has passed for Chocolate and Sophia. They spend the whole day cuddling and following each other around.
  
  As for veggies, Chocolate gets LOTS of veggies (2-3 cups) per day. Sophia still isn’t interested, but she never drank that much water before even when it was pretty hot.
  
  Has anyone had any trouble with the Sweet Meadow kind of hay? That was they type I was feeding. We got concerned about Chocolate because I caught him urinating a very dilute and translucent urine with none of the typical urine smell (basically like water). I got worried that it was a kidney problem. The vet did bloodwork and took a urine test, but nothing abnormal showed up. She said it was either the hay I was feeding or it was something worse (cancer).
  
  I thought the Sweet Meadow kind of hay would be good because I wanted to give my rabbits an organic hay. The vet said that it could have a kind of fungus or mold in it that could be making their kidneys upset. I didn’t notice that the hay was abnormal, but I guess mold/fungus can hard to detect sometimes (I kind of thought it would be more obvious)? She also said that Chocolate would be more likely to show signs than Sophia since he is older. It has been about a week and it does seem that the frequency of the translucent urine has gone down. They also do not seem to be drinking as much anymore. I am *really* hoping that the hay is the problem and not something more serious.
  
  Has anyone else had a similar experience with this hay company or moldy hay in general?

  I know it is an old post, but I wonder how is Chocolate? My Chao-Guay starts drinking a lot after neutering (7/10/18). And I am wondering about kidney, too. Thanks,
