I know rabbits a crepuscular (meaning most active at dawn and dusk) and my bunnies follow this trend, generally… They snooze in the afternoon intermittently (Simon more continuously than Olive, who gets up for a drink or nibble on but they seem a lot more prone to Bunny 500s and binkies-a-thons in the morning. How about others?
when i open up the fridge door…
Wilbur: 1-4 in the morning chewing on things loudly, digging, banging things around. During the day is when she is constantly running, binkying, jumping, and following me around. Late afternoon, evening, and night she usually is usually laying around.
Totoro: Very lazy all day. In the evening he will start binkying and running around.
Both of them go crazy and binky when I clean their litter boxes haha
longhairmike: I had a bunny that used to like to put her nose in the crisper when the door was open. I miss her!
bunnyfriend: The same bunny I referred to in my above post used to *love* to clatter around her litterbox in the morning around 6a.m.–used to work second shift and sleep in, and that would drive me craaaaaaazy. Loved her any way.
Early morning, very late at night.
Like past midnight. ZOOOOOM, THUMP, ZOOOOM, THUMP.
Hahahaha sometimes I feel like they do it on purpose!!! *scratch scratch scratch* *dig dig dig* “Wilbur! Shhh!” *pause*………………………*bang!* *loud chewing/tearing noises*
It was really weird while she had to be kept in her kennel without anything to futz around with all night, I’m used to the sounds of cardboard being destroyed and nails scratching the floor as she runs around.
bunnyfriend: I’m almost positive they do it for their own amusement, and sometimes their amusement is to annoy us when we’re trying to sleep. I know Olive, as a single bun (now she’s paired with Simon, a NZ bunny adopted from a shelter) would binky around in her large litterpan, making a surprising amount of noise when I was on the phone, and when I’m studying and she was in the X pen, she’d rattle the cage bars. Yup! On purpose! I’d be willing to bet money on it.
LoveChaCha: I’m glad my bunnies are relatively quiet, although they did wake me up last night by crashing into their litterbox, which resulted in clanging the metal wires of the X pen. Woke me up. I was out into the kitchen like a rocket, because I thought they might be fighting but nope, just had two innocent looking bunnies in front of me saying, “Whaaa? Me???”
Hazel is legitimately active all the time! She definitely takes more naps in the afternoon, but whenever she is out she is always up to something! She is definitely a very busy bunny. However, she does take a lot of breaks to come snoop up on the couch for pets and flops (see photos in the Lounge for a visual!).
I used to have much more a much more active bunny, Flip flop… but I kinda like my more muted pair. That said, Olive is more active than Simon.
Penelope is more active than Thumper, but both are most active 1-4 AM. Thumper, tearing up boxes, and Penelope, throwing her litter out of her pan (I need to order screens!) It’s funny though, sometimes if I take a nap in the afternoon, a time their usually sleeping, they some how manage to get a burst of energy and get into everything!! I agree, I think they get some satisfaction from making loud noises when we’re trying to sleep! ![]()
Wow! I’m sure glad my bunnies aren’t keeping me awake at night and don’t dig out their litterpan (I think I had that issue briefly with Flip Flop, too).

Yupp
Chacha loves coming into my bedroom! I can’t let her have fun while I’m asleep because she makes a lot of noise ![]()
My new ‘Real SImple’ magazine fell victim to her teeth. She must know it is November and that her birthday falls on Thanksgiving ![]()
Is Chacha free range all the time? I love having my bunnies free range but only during the day and evening when I am home. When I go to sleep, they go in the X pen in the kitchen. I’d probably wake up to a nightmare “bunny redecorating project”… even though they are both very good about their free range time.
I would say…. right now hahaha, its 8pm where I am and she is tearing up the floor! She does this 8pm and 8am!
mornings right after their pellets and durning the night from the looks of things in the morning.
My rabbits are more active during the middle of the night.
My buns are super active in the morning. I have my coffee/internet time from about 8-10 and they join me in the living room. That’s when I see the most binkies, zooms and lots of bad bunny activities. (Olivia is doing super zooms all around the room as I type). They come out in the evening as well but they are usually more mellow.
I would say Cadbury is mostly active in the morning first thing, and the evenings. Although he had ALL KINDS of fun this morning around 3am. But once I came out and said… “Cadbury… it’s NOT time to bang around!” he did calm down until I got up for the day around 6:30am, then it’s a HUGE fit until I open the cage and let him out to run while I take care of all the other animals! LOL
haha, I wish my buns would listen when I tell them to stop. I’ve tried yelling, asking politely, begging..lol
Bunnies might hear us, but they certainly choose not to listen whenever they darn well please ;-).
LOL This is true… Cadbury is a very DIFFERENT bunny though, I give him much cudos for being so calm, chill, and VERY well behaved! LOL
Thats funny, my boyfriend has that too! I wonder if Selective Hearing is a zoonotic disease??? Only capable of transmission if the person is willing? haha, oh I am a vet sci nerd.
I have surprisingly good bunnies. Olive gives me a little sass (foot flicks, stomps when she’s annoyed with me) but she doesn’t wreck my house, either. Simon is just a sweetheart with his pink eyes, ears and nose and white fur. I wish I could have them free range all of the time, but that little part of me doesn’t think I should–gives me more peace of mind when I’m not home or asleep to X pen them. Bunnies don’t listen at the best of times, and I’d rather be safe than sorry!
