This is the story of me becoming a bunny lover
Truthfully, I never saw myself, in the begining becoming a bunny lover. I just one day was on the computer and I saw an adorable rabbit with lop ears. And lets just say, it went uphill then down hill, then uphill from there. I reasearch and soon found that it was a holland lop bunny. I know, I know, you shouldn’t pick a rabbit by its cuteness all the time, but I was so hooked on getting my own loppity eared bun. I did so much reasearch, and at my age, I found out that a rabbit is so much more than I would have ever thought. Expensive, Expensive, its a little hard to tell your dad that you want to have a rabbit, and when I did, he said, “NO”! Okay, I know that I should respect my dad’s answer, but I did even more reasearch, and it impressed him, I knew almost everything, the diet, the weather, habbitats, and I found this site to confirm that what I knew was true, after I got answers from this site, I was ready to take the next step. Okay, if you are my age and you have a little sister who was 5 years old, and you want a rabbit. You can’t trus anyone, cause the moment I told her, I said not to tell my dad, she ran of and told him
. But my other sister who is a little younger than me helped me make posters, and my dad finally said “Yes!” Okay, not really a, “Yes,” but he was looking up rabbit hutches so I came up to him. Then it skyrocketed from their. About two months later, I was on my way to a breeder. And then I was hooked, I saw my Mr. Kenny Bunny in that cage. With the twitchy little nose, and white fur with brown spots. I was in love with adorable bunny, I put him in the box, and went off with him. And here we are now, I spent a good amount of my money on his neutering, but I was a hundred percent worth it! Please, share you stories of how you became a bunny lover!!!
My favorite pic or him(and thats my little sister, she is six now!)

Awe! Awesome story!
Well, I had it on a later post I believe, but anyways… I was in my college class, normal day, when it was rabbit lecture day and my professor brought in a rabbit. So I peeked inside and saw a cute little albino just worried as can be. Before class started the professor said that the bunny is a research bunny and the research they had done is over and the rabbit needs a home. OMG! Cute rabbit, always wanted one, and here it is, needs rescuing. So for a whole hour I was arguing with myself (in my head of course) if I should adopt her or not. And so I texted my dad saying that a poor research rabbit needs my help, never got a text back, so after class, I decided I would take her. I admit, I was stupid for doing that, not being prepared for taking a bunny on a whim like that, but it honestly was the best decision I have made, pet wise (btw, anyone reading this, never do what I did no matter how many times I say it was the best thing I did, it was stupid, be prepared for your rabbit). Then I got a text from my dad, “Just say no.” Texted him, “Too late.” And so far, everyone loves her. Tipsy is a great addition to the family!!
Awhhhhh I liked that story (:

The bun in your pic is so cute!!!
Oh, gosh, well, my husband and I had just moved up to the Seattle area and got an apartment in Kirkland. After getting laid off from my seasonal retail job that had allowed us to pay rent from November to January, I started volunteering with Purrfect Pals as a cat socializer, so I was spending 4-6 hours per week in the Kirkland Petco hanging out with homeless kitties. My husband would come to pick me up after my shift, and while I was cleaning up and putting the kitties back in their cubbies, he would wander around and look at pet supplies. Well, one day he found a book on keeping house rabbits, which planted the idea in his head. He spent hours at the public library reading about bunnies and sometimes after a volunteer shift we’d drive over to Danny’s Pet World and look at the bunnies they had there. I agreed that they were definitely cute, but was not enthused about the idea of bringing one home. Eventually we had to move back to Texas because we ran out of money and couldn’t find jobs, and the idea of getting a bunny was put on the backburner for a year, though my husband still brought it up every once in a while. Then this past May we changed apartments and the complex owner’s wife said bunnies don’t require a deposit (apparently they consider buns a ‘cage pet’). Since we ended up with the only unit in the complex with all-tile flooring downstairs, my husband decided our new place would be perfect for a bunny and the fact there would be no pet deposit made him all the more gung-ho about it. So after we talked to the leasing office, I said to him, “Hey, why don’t we go see if the city shelter has any bunnies?” (I actually doubted they would and thought it might put him off the idea of buying a baby from the pet store, at least for a while.) They did in fact have one sad, scared little bun, a broken chestnut lop-eared fuzzball who’d been dumped off the week before. Predictably, it was bunnylove at first sight, even for me. We had to wait a few days, but the day we signed the lease on the new place, we went back to the shelter and brought her home. We name her Flopsy, part because of the Beatrix Potter story, part because she has floppy ears. It was a whirlwind romance between the two of them at first, but it quickly faded with each item that mysteriously grew chew marks and each morning we came downstairs to a completely excavated litterpan. He had expected her to be exactly like the rabbits you read about in the HRH, gregarious, affectionate, and playful; Flopsy is in fact sedentary, retiring, and messy, which he interpreted as ingratitude and spitefulness. Strangely, as my husband’s infatuation with the bunny lessened, my own affection for her increased. Over the course of the summer, it got to the point where I was spending 3-5 hours a day lying on the floor on my stomach, petting her and playing with her. Eventually, my husband just said, “Stupid rabbit. She hates me. You take care of her,” and this didn’t bother me.
TL;DR My husband got a rabbit, she wasn’t what he expected, and now his rabbit is my rabbit. <3

for me… me and the bf were watching tv on a Sunday afternoon when something inspired me to want a pet, so I decided Id go to Petsmart and get a fish….well we got to Petsmart and I decided a fish isn’t any fun… maybe a hamster…I went down a whole list and finally came to bunnies…So against what I would normally do we went to a different pet store (I cant explain it but I just knew I needed to right then) and came across Cady…they put me in a room with him and I was in love and totally unprepared… we ended up taking him home that night with minimal supplies but still feeling somewhat ready (bfs sister is a rabbit owner so he was somewhat experienced)….well turned out my sweet cady was quite a brat (in a good way) settled right in and grandma even bought him a welcome home cage and some gifts (the cage turned out to be a large hideaway because Mr Cady decided my room was his) Very shortly after getting cady I found BB and its has been my main point of info and also made me think how I should get Cady a wifey….So less than 2 months after getting him I became obsessed with searching on petfinder until I came across a beautiful little girl who had been rescued from a slaughterhouse, which she was sent to all because of a black spot on her back! I couldnt resist and ended up meeting her and falling in love and THANK GOODNESS Cady fell in love instantly too!!! I couldnt have gotten any luckier…I never knew I could love 2 bratty bunnies soo much!
Well I was pretty impulsive…
One crazy Saturday we had someone come into my work and surrender a 15 pound, female, Flemmie because she wasn’t eating and they weren’t even willing to pay an exam fee. When she was examined, her entire body was empty of food/poop. I spent the whole weekend syringe feeding her critical care and after 24 hours she started eating and pooping on her own. Before then I had never had any real interaction with rabbits. Every one I knew, their people just kept them outside and besides feeding they never really paid any attention to them. After that weekend I fell TOTALLY in love. I started researching them and the more things describing how difficult they are, the more I wanted one
I decided that I really wanted one so I started keeping my eye out for a decently priced cage/x-pen. NIC cubes were nowhere to be found at the time. In those 2 weeks the Flemmie got adopted, I was sad, but I knew there would always be more out there. Someone replied to my kijiji ad about a cage and that same night I found an add for a litter of baby buns for free. The girl selling them had mis-sexed her pretty young pair and now had babies on her hands. I went to check them out and Tait was the first one I picked up, but he cuddled right up to me and I knew he was the one
So after some crazy times he is now my free-range, 9 month old, neutered baby boy
He was one of the BEST decisions of my life. I love his little bunny querkiness soooo much ![]()
I lost my mother in December 2009. My grandma and I spoke and thought it would be a great idea for me to have a pet companion when I moved in with my dad.
I had a lot of fall outs with people.. and well, it was meant to be when I saw little baby Chacha bun… she had me at her picture. She has been great fun and therapy. She has helped me smile again, and to learn how to be a little more patient. She is my world – as I describe to people. I can’t live without her nearby.
January will be 2 years that she has been in my life and I look forward to many more with her
She says ‘MY BIRTHDAY IS ON THANKSGIVING.” ![]()
EDIT: 5 week old Chacha photo.. yeah, you can see why I love her so.. and she is quite the sweet/divalicious bunny ![]()

Back in March of this year I was on craigslist and saw a post for a free female bunny with cage needing a new home. I called the guy right away and he said Gabby was about a year old and had lived in the garage in her cage all winter. It would be too hot in the summer for her in the garage so they were getting rid of her. When I first saw her I fell in love. A few weeks later she was spayed and then I noticed she was trying to cuddle and follow my cat Abby around the house.
I wanted to take her to a bunny rescue and have some speed dating meetings but my daughter fell in love with a bunny named Thumper who was at a animal shelter an hour away from us. She insisted until I contacted the lady over the rabbits and she helped me introduce Gabby to Thumper. It was love at first sight for Thumper so we brought him home with us.
After about a week being in the same house they started to bond more and now they regularly flop together and binky around the house. I love my two buns.
Lets see. We aren’t allowed dogs here, and I’m allergic to cats. A couple friends of my husbands have 2 house bunnies, although I’ve never met them its always been an interest of his to have some someday. I’ve grown up with pets and wanted my children to do the same, so we started with hamsters, but sadly they don’t have a long life :/ We took a break from pets, and then decided that for Easter we’d get a bunny. I went to the pet store and picked out Samson, she was lively and had a lot of spunk for a baby bun. I know there is a pretty big stigma against pet stores here, but it is what it is. Samson’s my husbands bunny
She adores him, grooms him. She tolerates me, and likes the kids haha. I’m still working on a relationship with her, which is rewarding.
I’ve been reading alot about bonding and really how 2 bunnies is better, so we went on craigslist and found Lady from a breeder. She’s more like a dog than a bunny, she follows me around, slathers me and the kids with kisses, and is really just a love.
