  It’s been some time since I posted or put up bunny pictures. Sorry about that! The bunnies and I have been doing well, and Ms. Rabbit celebrated her 1st Bunniversary recently.
  
  Anyway, Mr. Bunny seems to be having some sort of problem with his nose. He had a terrible sneezing attack last night, and he sneezed up a few big globs of thick white snot. He’s a sensitive bunny and I had just eaten food that had a lot of hot peppers, so I thought that he might have eaten a little piece.
  
  He still seems to be having a hard time today. He had another sneezing attack earlier today, and his nose is covered in thick white snot. He also has some yellow crustiness near his eyes and on his chin. He’s eating and pooping fine, but his behavior does seem a bit “off” – he seems a bit fatigued and antisocial.
  
  Is this something that would warrant a vet visit? I’m thinking that if he has really labored breathing or if he’s still having problems tomorrow, I’ll bring him in. Would that be okay?

  It sounds like he should see a vet. I think tomorrow should be fine.

  I agree. Now that tomorrow is today, I hope your vet can get him in. It’s not something you want to get worse.

  He seems to be better today. His nose is still a little bit wet, but I haven’t seen him have a sneezing attack since yesterday morning and he doesn’t have any more thick white snot. I think something in the bunny room might be bothering them – both bunnies were sneezing when I scattered some pellets on the floor yesterday. I’m going to give the bunny room a good cleaning and see if that helps at all.

  White discharge and sneezing are both symptoms of a URI (upper respiratory infection) so please keep a very close eye on him if you aren’t going to take him to a vet. When they sneeze because something is up their nose, typically it’s a clear liquid, not white. It can spread to your other bun and be very, very dangerous if not treated if that is what it is. If he shows any other symptoms, I would take him in ASAP.

  Hi Fluffy, I have had a bunny (Stu-Bob) who had these symptoms for the last 18 months also. The sooner your bunny sees a vet, the better the chances will be for treating. If the symtoms go away, it is not necessarily a good thing, as the puss would be causing greater damage inside the head if it can not drain out of the tear ducts or nostrils. So if he starts to look better, dont assume it has cleared up on its own. The white stuff coming out of the nose could be puss from a respiratory infection (as Stickerbunny said) Have you had his teeth checked lately at the vet? It could be caused by a rear tooth / root or spur, or Pasturella.
  Your bunny will need to go on antibiotics for this infection to clear up properly. Please dont leave it any longer. Rabbit puss is very thick and it could eat away at the inside of his nose, his respiratory system, and the surrounding bones. Please let us know how you go at the vet. They will need to swab his nose to see what kind of antibiotic to use. Good luck!
