  Hi all,
  
  Cadbury starting making a strange noise this morning. Similar to the swallowing noise she makes when she drinks, but I noticed her doing it while eating her hay and cleaning herself. Not really a sniffing or grunting, but similar.
  
  She is acting completely fine, running around like crazy, eating/drinking normally. No discharge from eyes, nose or ears. She doesn’t do it consistently, but it’s the first time I’ve heard her make that noise at all.
  
  Should I be worried?

  I took a video of her so you could hear the strange noise she is making. It’s very dark so you can’t really see her, but there is still no eye or nasal discharge.

  You can best hear the noise at :07-:08, :14-:16 and :35-:37. She is eating, so you also hear her chewing in addition to a strange clicking noise my camera is making.

  Wow. That is a weird sound. Maybe she has a bunch of hair in her throat? When was the last time you groomed her? One time when we waited to long between grooms our bunny decided to take care of it herself. I can’t remember if she made a sound like that. Just a guess. Definately keep an eye out for discharge like you have been.
  
  That could just be standard bunny honking/grunting sounding really weird in the video. How old is she? How long have you had her? Is she spayed? Does she ever make that noise running around the room or running circles around you?
  
  The more I think about it the more I think that may be it.

  Sounds like honking to me, my rabbit makes that exact sound when he eats a snack he loves or is begging! They will do that noise even if they are altered. Don’t worry, she’s just happy (:

  That’s exactly the noise that Bailey used to make. (Bailey passed away a few years ago— NOT related to the noise of course). Anyway, she made that noise when she ate, and sometimes when she groomed herself. She never had any teeth or nasal issues, and she didn’t seem to be in any discomfort when she ate — it was just something she did and especially when she ate something she really liked!
  
  However, in your bunny’s case, this is new, right? Or is this just something you have paid closer attention to recently? If this is truly something new, then it is definitely worth paying attention to to make sure that this noise isn’t due to a health issue — nasal or teeth issue.

  equalsign – She is 4 years old, spayed, I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old and this is the first time she’s ever made this specific noise.
  
  BB – This is definitely a new noise for her. And she can go several hours without making it at all. Seems to pop up mostly when she’s grooming or eating, but sometimes she can do those things and not make the sound.
  
  I have noticed her sneezing a bit this morning, very, very slight clear nasal discharge (I think – when she cleans her face I can’t tell if there is anything, although there isn’t anything crusted around her nose, or on her front paws.) She is still acting fine, racing around my legs this morning excited for her veggies!
  
  Is anyone familiar with how bunnies can get “snuffles” (pasteurella). She hasn’t been around any other animals for 4 years. I guess it could have been dormant in her system and just now popped up, but she hasn’t been stressed or anything lately. The only other thing I can think of is allergies – we’ve had our windows open the last few days. How common is allergies in bunnies?

  Can you take your rabbit to the vet? Since you have had her for 4 years and haven’t heard the noise before I would be a little concerned. Allergies are common in bunnies.

  Hi all,
  
  Just wanted to update that we started Cadbury on Baytril and Bene-Bac today. She is still sneezing a bit, and the inside of her front paws is very slightly wet/crusty. She’s still acting fine, but the vet suspects pasteurella. Hopefully it will do the trick!

  Ohh good to hear! I’m sorry that Cadbury is sick, hope she gets better soon!
