  Hi All,
  
  I’m new but we’ll save the introductions for later… I’m worried about my bunny!
  
  She is about 5 months, a holland lop. I JUST took her to the vet earlier today for a checkup/pre spay appointment and the vet said everything looked good!
  
  When we got home her and her bonded buddy hopped out of their carrier and around the pen like usual. It wasn’t until later on I noticed that she kept to herself, and stayed in a corner. I just figured maybe she was stressed out from the vet visit or something, since it was her first time going to vet and being in the car since i brought them home.
  
  When I tried to pick her up, I noticed her bottom was wet! ANd it was yellow, from urine. I don’t understand why this is happening? Is she ill or is she just stressed? I have not seen her eat or drink yet since we’ve been back from the vet either.
  
  Any advice would be appreciated! I’m just freakin’ out over here and I can’t call the vet until tomorrow morning!

  Keep an eye on her for awhile. If today progresses and she hasn’t eaten or pooped, give the vet a call. Make sure to call early enough so you can get squeezed in if necessary. Some rabbits react pretty badly to changes in environment. She might have already been feeling a bit bad (but undetectable to you) and the vet visit was the icing on the cake. Keep us posted on how she is doing.

  Thanks for the reponse! Sometimes its just nice to hear from someone so you know you’re not entirely crazy for freaking out
  
  She seems okay in the meantime, later on in the night she started cleaning her bottom which made me feel better she wasn’t just lying there, and my fears subsided a little more when I saw her drink some water. I slept a little easier last night! This morning I put in some hay and she went and and ate some, so I think she may have been stressed out! Poor thing… she’s going to the vet again next week to get spayed… is there anything I can do to help ease the stress? That’s intense if this is going to happen everytime we go to the vet!

  Welcome!! I’d ditto keeping a close eye. Very strange for a bunny to sit in some wee, but perhaps she is quite stressed from the car ride and vet trip. Keep us posted!
  
  I’d just ensure her buddy goes with her to the vet, that helps a lot. Also send a blanky or towel she likes, and her favorite veggies and some hay.

  We don’t fast rabbits prior to surgery, so make sure she eats up until she goes in. With my Meadow, I fed her a couple hours earlier that morning so I would know for a fact that she had plenty of time to eat. She is going to be out of a it for a couple days following surgery. Make sure you have pain meds for her. Pellets will be the last thing she wants to eat, so have her favorite hay and veggies on hand for afterwards.

  You definitely want to make sure she is healthy before she gets spayed, so if she urinates on herself again, she may have a UTI and I would let the vet know. Otherwise if it doesn’t happen again, then I agree, she may have just been stressed out and scared and didn’t want to move even to urinate. Also, are you sure she didn’t urinate on herself while she was still in the carrier?

  Kokaneeandkahlua – thanks for the welcome ! yes I did keep an eye on her, she is back to her normal self (whew) so I guess it was just stress! I did take her buddy with her too since they are bonded and I had read that they can help each other cope with stress. I’ll keep in mind the favorite towel and hay/veggies, do you just throw it in the carrier?
  
  Beka – yeah the vet mentioned that there’s no need to fast bunnies before surgery so I will make sure she loads up on goodies before she goes. D: is pain medication something the vet willl prescribe?
  
  BB – thank you for your concerns! I was worried that it could be a UTI too, but the next few days she seemed back to her perky self. I checked the carrier after I let them out before I put it away and it looked fine! I didn’t even really see a puddle in the pen area… I think it was just her. x_x
