I wanted to tell everybunny Happy First day of October! I can’t believe it is already october. Where does the time fly by. Were getting closer and closer to christmas. Can’t wait to spoil my buns!

Time seriously is flying. Holidays are right around the corner. The stores already have their holiday stuff out. And it seems like practically overnight, the temperature in my neck of the woods plummeted. I was excited for it to get a bit cooler, but now it seems like it was all too much too fast.

Time really is flying. I walked into Lowe’s yesterday and they already had out all of their Christmas stuff! Craziness! I haven’t even bought candy for Halloween yet! lol

 I really love fall, and Halloween is so fun! Not ready for Christmas…….

I love Halloween and fall too! I love seeing all the kids in their cute little costumes And there’s too much drama at Christmas for me! Although as long as I stay clear of the kitchen I’m all good! lol

I am so ready for Thanksgiving! It’s taken everything I have not to run out and buy a million things to make all sorts of side dishes, thats my favorite part of the meal hahaha, all those mashed potatoes and various casseroles and stuffing…mmmmmmmm.
Halloween is going to be fun this year because it will be the first year that I wont have to work overnight during it. I have no idea what costume I want but all of my friends have suggested, of course, what else… a bunny! I keep telling them that its hard to dress like a bunny in a college town without getting the wrong kind of assumptions, or looking like the easter bunny.
Greg and I are already trying to figure out the whole “holidays at the parents” thing. That is the most stressful part, I think. Which parents’ house do you have the actual holiday at and which one do you have a mock holiday with the next day? The families live in towns that are an hour and half away and its just not fun to do that commute twice on one holiday.
Huck is in “either pet me or im gonna eat the house” mode.

Oh my, speaking of holidays, my store is going to become crazy insane 2 weeks before Thanksgiving up until New Years  At least my time will go by fast, right?

I haven’t had a chance to look through my work’s Halloween stuff. I may blow my entire paycheck on it  Oi, I really LOVE Halloween !! I want to dress up as a Gryffindor, as there are no Slytherin costumes available at stores..

Target has some REALLY REALLY cute stuff! I LOVE ghost related items (I Love BOO from mario!) especially . I had a customer that got her nails done at a salon nearby, and she bought in photos of the super mario characters. The nail artist PAINTED the characters onto my customer’s nails .. she said that the salon does that, as long as you bring a photo with you. HMMM, maybe a time to treat myself during the holiday rush  .. with a manicure (for my beat up retail hands) and a photo of BOO the ghost (hes in style ALL holidays!!) and Chacha

Last night, around 1:30 am, I laid next to my bed (on the floor) and Chacha came hopping her royal self up to me. I stroke her head, and she INSTANTLY gets into a loaf  and.. she starts tooth purrrrrrrringgg

I’m super excited about halloween, I already have my costume! I’m going as Medusa. And I’m going all out, I’m going to make myself creepy with some green makeup and I have a long black wig with green and purple streaks, and a staff with a snake on it. Plus of course the snakes for my head and a dress made of green mesh and faux snake skin. Hehehehe, it’ll be fun. Halloween is my favorite holiday!

Yes, I ordered the dress from modcloth.com. They actually have quite a bit of bunny stuff. I really want the cardigan they have with the bunny wearing glasses on it. So cute!

I had a loooong day today. I am so ready to pass out but I know my second wind is creeping up on me.
Dr. Who fans: Anyone see the season finale on BBCA today? I couldn’t believe the way they left it. My daughter and I have been groaning over the new seasons with #11, but today was the capper. I hope the writers do better next year.

We watched fall come and go in a matter of weeks this year. Already we’ve had brief showers of snow. It doesn’t stick but it still makes the roads nasty. Jenna doesn’t like wearing her cold gear and that makes walking her difficult.

I’m kinda glad my son is not at school for this Halloween. He is a bit bummed at having nowhere to go to as the grim reaper though.
I’ve gotten to the age where I don’t need a costume…I’m scary enough just as myself.

I’m not a huge fan of Halloween. I know I know. Don’t smack me! LOL But on Oct 23rd my mom and I are going to Tennesee for a week. We will be near Pigeon Forge, I believe. She has a time share and we’re going to just get away and relax. So I’m looking forward to that. I keep telling Lolli that Grandpa will be taking care of her and to be nice to him. lol

LBJ, I LOVE Modcloth! It is real expensive for my budget right now >_> I, too like the bunny with the glasses sweater! I read the reviews and it said the sweater is a one size and that it can run a little small. It made me sad I have broad shoulders so I would probably end up stretching it out.

Mimz, I am a huge Dr Who fan but I have found it so hard to get into it after David left and they got new writers. I think I watched maybe 1/3-1/2 of that season, not sure what season that was, and I just stopped. I couldn’t do it anymore. Everyone keeps saying to give it another shot and stick with it because it gets better. Youre the first I have seen to say otherwise. Is it really that bad? That makes me sad….

So I justified it by saying I could wear it to work with the new dress code. I wish I had the money to buy some of their other bunny stuff. I saw the candy dish and wondered if it was non-toxic. Maybe I could use it for the rabbits..

I’ve been watching Doctor Who. I like the show, but I think things have gotten a little too mushy. Is that the right word?

MimzMum – I was really disappointed with the finale too! I think they built up sooo much tension and unanswered questions that there was no to resolve it in a satisfactory 45 minutes. The moment the tessalecta appeared in the first few minutes I had a suspicion how it was going to end, haha. Also, the “question that must not be asked” was pretty disappointing too…

FALLLLLLL!!! I’m not a very good summer person. when it’s super hot I get really lazy and cranky, so I prefer fall. plus, I don’t like to wear very revealing clothes and it’s more comfortable for me to slap on some jeans and a sweater instead of walking around in shorts.

so, I’ve mentioned my internship before, but my ED just told me last week she wants to hire me as a part-time outreach coordinator- which means I will be getting paaaaaaaaid! plus, I now have an official title so I feel all important haha.

my parents got a new kitten and it’s kind of THE most adorable little kitty I’ve ever seen. I’ll post pictures soon =D the bunnies are fine; I got them a drinking bowl instead of a water bottle and they love it.

hehe.. I couldn’t wait. introducing, the cutest little kitty in the whole wide world: komaengi! she’s only 7 weeks, so she’s super tiny.. and my dad thought for two days what to name her, and came up with komaengi [pronounced ko-meng-ee] which literally means “tiny thing”. LOL. way to be creative, pops.

lol. apparently she thinks I’m a chair or something

also, I know there’s a bunch of cat owners on here.. she LOVES to play with people’s hair? hahaha. Our other cat never did this, but everytime any of us lay down she loves to go back behind our heads and just like… dig a tunnel through our hair or something. she also purrs alotttttt when she’s doing this, it’s hilarious.

That kitty is SO CUTE! Love the name! Also, almost every kitten I’ve come into contact with has a strange obsession with hair! Sleep in it, play in it, chill in it LOL I’m sure you’ve already discovered that you won’t be sleeping for the next couple months..and that you might be missing some toes before it’s all over!

hahahahaha I guess our other cat’s an oddball then. if anyone has tips on how to introduce cats to eachother, feel free to share! right now they are completely separated and can’t even see eachother.

You should introduce them slowly. Like have a door between them where they can smell each other, but not see.

I love fall, except it began here in MI as cold, gray, windy and rainy for like a week straight. Ugh.

LOL! Michigan can have some interesting falls. In one week we went from I think 80’s to 60’s. Our last day of warm weather was filled with awesome thunderstorms. Then after that front moved on all the cold from Canada blasted over the lakes and took over.

Actually let me fix that. Michigan just has interesting weather. And oh the lake effect snow. Where I went to college was near Lake Michigan. One weekend my husband was visiting me (we were just dating then). When we went to bed there was not a cloud in the sky. Woke up the next morning and it looked like someone upended a bucket of snow over everything. We literally had to get a shovel and dig my car out so we could go and get breakfast. I remember digging my car out, it was cloudless and sunny. I was actually getting hot wearing just jeans and a hoodie. By that evening almost all of the snow was gone.

October already…hard to believe. Wedding in 18 days!!! SO not ready!!!

Looking forward to Thanksgiving. Usually my Mom makes a big meal but this year she is working so I’m going to make my first ever Thanksgiving meal, vegetarian, of course. Bring on the Tofurky!

I love Christmas but I get very annoyed at how the stores push Christmas earlier and earlier each year. At least wait until Halloween to put the Christmas decs out.

I make it a rule not to go to play like clubs and bars solo, for safety reasons, but it’s not everyday that a band I love that’s located on the West coast gets to Illinois, let alone someplace that’s not Chicago. Lol, I’m not really looking for help, I’m just grumpy and feel the need to grump about it.

I know that feeling. I wanted to go to a protest rally that was very important to me, but I couldn’t find anyone to go with me. It sucks.

I’m a little confused. My in-laws went on a tour to Europe and they visited Prague. They asked if we wanted them to bring something back for us. We said we could like some Czech glass. When they got home, they said that the “crystal” was really expensive there and they didn’t want to buy it. Huh?

LBJ, I’m kind of confused by your post – when I was in Prague there was crystal stuff everywhere. I’m not sure how expensive it was since I never looked at the prices. Is Czech glass something different? I don’t remember seeing that there, but then I wasn’t looking for it.

It wouldn’t surprise me that it was pricey. Everything is much more expensive in Europe. I know Bohemian glass is crystal.

They were looking at crystal figurines for some reason. We were wanting blown glass, like a vase or a bowl. It usually has color added to it. Glass is cheaper than crystal, so I would have thought they could find something that wasn’t too much.

** I know that crystal is glass, but it is different than regular glass (higher lead content, etc).

We can always buy glass at the local Czech days. We just thought it would be more special if it came from there. You know? I guess it just annoys me because they were the ones who asked us. Sheesh, if it was that expensive they should have called or emailed us to ask if we wanted to pay them back. Instead they just come back without anything. How the heck do you go to Europe and not buy anything? LOL I am a sucker whenever we go anywhere. I want to buy local things that are made there. I don’t care too much about prices.

LBJ, that is my thoughts exactly I would bring an entire suit case of stuff back from Europe.. I probably would freak out at all the awesome stuff! Hah ah hah!

yesterday around 5pm, we were eating dinner when i saw a shadow at the living room window out of the corner of my eye, followed by a BAM! as it plowed into the window. i ran out to see a dove laying on the ground twitching. one of his wings was stretched out and his neck was all curled back. i ran in and got a flat piece of cardboard to scoop him up with, and we moved him over to the grass. he was really out of it and we though it he was going to die right in front of us.

we stayed with him for about 30 minutes, when he finally started to regain consciousness. I had just mowed the grass yesterday morning, so i assembled a shipping box, put piles of grass in in, and we brought him in and kept him in one of the bathtubs overnight. it was not going to fly anywhere. this morning he seemed to be more alert, but still obviously injured. but brought him over to the end of the block and tried to let him go, but he wouldnt leave, so be brought him back and figured he was safe in our back yard. we built him a little three-sided shelter under the back porch to keep the wind off him, He’s totally free to wander off anytime, but he’s still out there right now, just sitting in his binkybunny box.

Poor little dove. Is there a wildlife rescue organization in your area? He might need something to stop any swelling he has.

A mourning dove…oh my, it’s beautiful! The poor thing. This bird has the most beautiful call, I just love them!

Phone your local vets-they often will take injured wildlife (I’ve never been turned down) they treat them there and then work with groups to release or they have their own program. On the ground…a cat might get him

I am looking forward to the night of, I’ve only had two Halloween’s in a house, where you get trick or treaters and last year I had to not decorate and put candy in the driveway as that dog I found had just finished having puppies and I didn’t want her freaking out.
So this year I am going to decorate with what I bought last year, and have trick or treaters!!!
(Since the year before that we had kittens here….Dave says I am not to round up any strays this month!! lol)

about 30 minutes ago i went to check on him,,, he was alert,, he got up,, walked out of the box and around it a little,, then made 2 attempts to get airborne on our porch,, then suddenly slumped over, choked and gurgled up blood from his mouth for about 10 seconds,, and that was it….
must have had massive internal bleeding from the window hit. why is my back yard such a death trap…

Hey everyone! FRIDAY is finally here! This was the longest week ever…

A few months ago I was washing the curtain for our big window in the bedroom and the next day I went outside and found a black bird dead right under it. I felt really bad, he obviously didn’t see the window.

Some more aggressive birds will fly into the window because they see their reflection and think it’s another bird. Kingbirds will do this. They are constantly attacking my in-laws’ french doors in the back.

This coming week is going to be the longest ever – at my job. At least the week after, my boss gave me 3 days off! PHEW! I’m going to need it +_+

im just glad that the big ones dont fly… or i’d be replacing a window too…

Peppy, I am stressed! How could you tell haha. Its is nothing in particular, the same thing every year. I am taking 17 hrs and working 2 jobs. The jobs only total up to be around 25 hrs a week but that drastically cuts into my being-a-bum-on-the-couch time, and that is time well spent hahaha jk.
I have a family member with a gambling addiction, for the sake of keeping things light, I wont go into further detail, but that is stressful, especially with the holidays around the corner.
Tonight, I get to relax though. My bf’s best friend is in town. He is essentially, the real life Barney Stenson from HIMYM. Despite the rough exterior and potential alcoholism, I love him, he is a very sweet friend. He is planning on mixing up a drink that, three weeks ago, created scenes similar to the Hangover… I have a little more control than those silly boys but I am looking forward to pretending to be 21 again and letting loose. I suppose I should say… it will be legend…wait for it… airy… (couldn’t help it)

Last night my friends and I went to a tail gate party. There were three dishes there with corn in them… I was in heaven. I love corn! The first was a corn salsa that was rotel, corn, green chilies, onion, and black bean. The second was chicken chili, with seasoned roasted chicken shredded and everything that was in the corn salsa. The third was a dish with corn, cream cheese, and chilies. I dont know what it was but it was tasty!!! Our team won, something like 62-21 I think. It started raining during the game so most people left around noon. Then the party moved to our apartment. Everyone had met Huckleberry a long time ago so they wanted to see her again. She was very friendly. She came right out once her Uncle Tony came in the room. He is her favorite person. She sniffed everyone’s toes.

OOO CORN!!!!!!!!!!! =D I love it too! I love yellow corn! Messy and yummy!

I was going to work out before work, but since I got off so late last night, all I feel like doing is falling back into bed. -_- So I won’t work out until Wednesday.. I am looking forward to restricting my schedule when I start school. I’m going to request for 3 days off, 4 full days of work (enough to get at least 30 hours a week) because I know i”ll be staring at my laptop and doing a lot of work at home.

I’ve begun limiting Chacha’s pellets to every other day, but the same amount. My dad has been sneaking her treats and pellets, so I’ve hid both in my room. I put the pellet amount into a plastic bag and put it on the counter for my dad to give Chacha. He says that she dances and zooms up to him in the morning and ‘he wants to reward her!’ The vet told me that if she gets to 5 lbs, she will need to go onto a diet.

Chacha got fed her pellets this morning, and later in the morning (I woke up at 11, ew! My dad wakes up early) my dad heard her chewing something. He got up and found her on the big couch, chewing at MY MAGAZINES!!!!!!!!!!!! She was chewing on my newest Time magazine issue ‘How we spend our $’ was the featured article on front.

Is she tryin to tell me something??

Wanted to ask but didn’t want to start a new thread…

My neighbors across the hall from me (a couple) seem to have some…issues, and have been yelling/arguing in the hallway at odd hours recently. None of my business, I know – except that the hallways are really echo-y and I can clearly hear each and every word they yell at each other in anger, which tends to be rather distracting if I’m trying to sleep or study. I figured leaving an anonymous note on their door is probably the most polite way to deal with this…any suggestions on wording or alternate ideas?

Peppy, I am having the exact same problem. My newest neighbors are ALWAY screaming at each other. I have thought about calling the police, leaving a note for them or saying something to the landlord but I am scared to do everyone of those. They live on the end, so the only people who would hear them would either be me or the guy that lives above them. The guy that lives above them works nights which is usually when they are fighting. I dont know what to do about it either!

I guess I really dont have suggestions, so I just googled “how to deal with screaming neighbors” and found this tip “5. Consult your condo or block association. Ask them to send a standard letter citing the ordinance or by-law. A condominium association’s right of first refusal is a little-known clause that can be used to buy your neighbor out.” at today.msnbc.msn.com. I think this would probably be the best way. You can contact your landlord anonymously and they can send a letter out that goes to everyone. That way you aren’t singled out, you wont be spotted putting a letter on their door and you wont have to worry about them directing any anger at you. Hopefully, that would be enough but if they really have problems, I doubt it….

when we had a 1br apartment in 2004,, we referred to one of our neighbors below in our building as the ‘phukity-phucks” because they were always yelling and swearing. they got evicted after a few months.

So we finally got snow today…and it stuck. >_< There's about a 1/4 inch on the ground. It's a wet snow though, so unless it freezes hard tonight we'll just have mushy ground tomorrow. We have more forecast, but the weatherman has been so far off lately, I am holding my breath that it doesn't sock us in.
Jenna was running around in it this morning like the Tasmanian devil. For a little dog who didn’t want to leave her pillow when we got up, it was hilarious to watch.

I work in an office and I just had to participate in rounding up a baby cow.

(Note: This cow broke free from a pasture located nearby. I’m happy but suprised it did not get hit by a semi. We have hundreds come through here every day)

O.o  I guess today is not going to be normal.

Okay. Checking account is empty and the cupboards/fridge are empty. So I have a package of coucous, a can of bumblebee shrimp, and some frozen vegetables (baby corn, white corn, carrots, etc). Do these things go together? All the recipes that are online for coucous call for red peppers, tomatoes, asparagus, etc. I don’t have any of those things. =\

Coucous and baby corns? Can you saute the shrimps and add those in? I find in most cooking, the vegetables called for in recipes can be substituted or omitted.

My husband and I always keep our left over pocket change in a jar and let it add up for times like these. There have been a couple times where we miscalculated our finances and had to cash in $20 worth of coins to buy some cheap food for a few days.

I found a box of tuna helper hiding in the cupboard and we had some tuna (I didn’t think the tuna would be good with the couscous). LOL I will need to make the coucous though this week since I need to make it until Friday when I get paid. I will need to figure out what to make with it though. I suppose I could saute the shrimp and then spread them over the top. We don’t have jars of coins. My mom used to save 50 cent pieces when I was a kid. It is never too late to start saving them. I usually pull a few bucks worth of change from my husbands pockets when I do the laundry. If I forget then, I have to go diving into the washer. Which I have done more then once.

I use the term diving because we have a top loading washer and I have short little arms, so if there is something stuck at the bottom I literally have to go into the darn thing head first to get it out. =/

We just don’t end up with a lot of change since neither of us ever has cash. We just use our debit cards for everything. Yes, I am guilty for using my debit card to buy something that’s only $1.

Oh yeah I know the feeling and I have done it too. I am making a habit though when I get my pay check to pull out some cash and deposit the rest. Then when I have to buy things use the cash. Helps you reign in spending. It is easier when you see your $20’s disappearing to know what you are spending. When you swipe the card you tend to forget about it until you look at your bank statement a few days later and say. “Where did all my money go?” $5 for this, $15 for that. Trust me I am more then guilty of it. Also our roomie pays his rent in cash.

Ugh, LBJ, I am right there with you. I am playing “which bill to pay” this month. Mac n cheese for me! Do you have any ramen? I put mixed veggies in ramen noodles. If you really get desperate and have any dvds or video games you dont watch or play, you can always consider selling them to a pawn shop or game store. It might get you the extra $5 that would help you make it. You could get a loaf of bread or some more tuna or some ramen or something. Good luck!!!

So, we found a perfectly good table on the curb for the trash the other day. We brought it in and cleaned it up. Huckleberry does not approve of the change at all. She is carefully circling and periscoping all around it. Then she stops to look at us like “nope, I dont like it one bit! take it back to where you found it!”

Speaking of throwing out perfectly good things, a few years ago a good friend of ours was visiting his mom who “married for the money” and lives in a really posh neighborhood. His moms neighbor was throwing out a perfectly good, working flat screen tv because it was already a year old and they just didn’t like it anymore. So he took it home with him.

Nope, no ramen. I remember to good ol days where we would sprinkle the seasoning in the bag of noodles and then smash up the noodles. You would eat it raw like that. If I get really desperate, I can go down to the used clothing store to see if they want some of my old clothes. They are very picky there and it is hit and miss. Funny, I took a Wilson’s leather coat down there that was from the mid 90s. It belonged to my husband right around the time he graduated high school. Anyway, extremely dated looking. I couldn’t believe it, they went absolutely nuts over it and gave me $20 for it. Weird…

Joyfull – That’s how we got our desk. It was sitting outside a store that had gone out of business. There was a sign that said “free, please take” so we loaded it up. It is a heavy metal desk that locks. The best part is that the rabbits can’t chew on it.

Hannah gave us a bit of a scare last night! She spent much of the evening holed up in the maze, which is unusual, but we didn’t worry. Then when it was dinner time, she didn’t want to eat a thing and ran under a chair and hid 🙁 Poor Hannah. She took a craisin, but wouldn’t take any other treats, veggies, or pellets. Her tummy felt nice and soft, so I assumed it was her teeth again (she had them done when we got her in April of 2010). We did force down some Critical Care, mostly because it made me feel better.

I was planning to take her to the vet today if she still wasn’t eating, but she ate like a champ at breakfast. Phew! It might still mean that a tooth checkup is in order soon, but I’m glad she’s feeling better.

I can relate to being broke. Try planning a wedding on top of the regular bills! Everyone keeps telling us that we will get most of the money back in gifts, I certainly hope that’s the case! And then, soon after, it will be time to start Christmas spending. It never ends.

Elrohwen- Stormy gave me a little scare like that a few nights ago. He just didn’t want to eat and was clearly in pain. He’s a bit of a drama queen and looks like he’s going to die for a couple of hours and then perks right back up. I assume it’s gas because after a couple of doses of Simethicone and tummy rubs he’s okay.

Hannah is also a drama queen! After her spay and teeth work she didn’t eat for three day straight. Ok bunny, I know you’re in pain, but just eat something! I’m hoping she doesn’t have more teeth problems because I’m not looking forward to the three days of forcing Critical Care and pain meds into her before she decides to eat again.

Oh, and as far as wedding costs go, we definitely didn’t get even close to the cost of our wedding back in gifts, but it did pretty much pay for our honeymoon, which was great because we didn’t have to spend the money we had saved for that. It was nice to still have money in the checking account when we got back!

Unlike our house … we stripped every cent out of our checking account for the downpayment.

You were able to pay for your honeymoon with your gifts?! o_O I think I got gypped. LOL We used the money we got as gifts as spending money on our honeymoon. Of course, our honeymoon cost like $5,000 because we went to Hawaii and plane tickets alone were $2,000. It think we ended up with maybe $500 tops in wedding gift money. =p

How many people did you have? And how old were you? We got married long enough out of college that our friends had good jobs and were nice enough to give generously. If we had gotten married earlier, I’m sure they wouldn’t have had nearly as much disposable income.

We also didn’t have a gift registry because we own a ridiculous amount of kitchen and household items, so we did a honeymoon registry. Almost all of our gifts ended up being money, either through checks or the registry, since we didn’t list anything else for them to buy.

When I got married I lucked out on the costs. I used to work at a banquet hall as a teen, so I just hit up my old boss and got a great price. A retired florist attends my childhood church and is good friends with my mom. She still owns a small florist school, so all I had to do was pay the materials fee and she and her students set up huge, beautiful bouquets and table pieces for us. Our roomies mom is a baker and we payed $350 for an amazing cake that I priced out as worth over $1,200 at the time. The DJ and photographer were pretty good too.

As far as honeymoon went, we just went camping in northern MI for a week, with a 2 day stop in Mackinac.

Joyfull, I lover northern MI! My dad’s family lives up there so we used to visit every summer. Mackinac is one of my favorite places.

Elrohwen – I was 24 and he was 29 at the time. We didn’t register for a lot of stuff since we had already been living together for like 7 years at that point. We had about 75-80 people that actually showed up to the wedding. We invited a bit more than that but a lot of people couldn’t make it for one reason or another. Most people who came were family or family friends. Anyway, I think my husband’s family is just on the “cheap” side. I don’t mean that to sound shallow or ungrateful. I just know that I can’t expect much from them (it’s the same way with holidays). I just remember my husband being a little bit annoyed with his (older) brother. When his brother got married, he made me splurge on a nice DVD player for him. What did he get us? A $20 cooler from Target. People from my side seemed to be more generous overall. My babysitter, who I hadn’t seen in YEARS, gave us a $50 gift card to Kohls.

Wow, a $20 cooler?! That’s pretty skimpy for the wedding of a sibling. I’m lucky that my guests were so generous and I’ve tried to pay it back at their weddings. DH always says I’m giving too much, but since I saw what they gave at ours (he didn’t really look at the checks) I definitely feel like being more generous.

Yeah, he was pretty annoyed. His brother didn’t throw him a bachelor party either and my husband had spent quite a bit on a bachelor party for him. I would say he wasn’t being a very good brother.

I am so tired right now. I was awake half the night feeling weird and hot. It’s not good that I am working today.

I’m becoming close to my coworkers. We all keep each other sane while the day is absolutely nuts! Today was the last day for one of them It makes me so sad!

We were writing a lot of rainchecks for butter and vitamin water. We are all dreading when we get the rain checks soon – the limit on vitamin water is 24. Most customers are kind of not smart and give the rainchecks AFTER everything has been scanned *shaking my head*. All the cashiers have phones at their stations, and I called 2 of my coworkers that were at the far end and said “DO YOU HAVE A BUTTER RAINCHECK!?!?!” Both of them laughed.

They make work more manageable

I’m going to be dressing up as a Slytherin Girl for Halloween. I work that day, and people are allowed to dress up at work! As long as it is appropriate I’m going to wear a skirt with tights. I need to buy some awesome tights, and insoles for my flats. I normally don’t wear flats, but I sure don’t want to wear sneakers with a skirt o_o

In the year that I’ve started going to the gym, I haven’t seen much progress weight wise. Muscle wise, yes Since I’ve started eating less meat, more vegetarian, I’ve lost some weight. In a year, I’ve lost 10 pounds. I feel happy and I am going to maintain that, as well as look for more awesome things to cook. I feel great.

We only got a few gifts since we also didn’t do a registry. I had like 100 cards to open though. Money is good too! There’s lots of stuff we need to buy/replace in the house so it’s great.

This weekend my good friend from college came up to visit with her husband. Her husband flies, so they rented a little plane and flew into the tiny airport 10min from my house. It was so nice not to drive 1.5hrs to pick them up! The only bad thing was that they were delayed from flying in on Friday because of some weather in PA, so they didn’t get in until 10am on Saturday and then had to leave around noon on Sunday. Oh well. They’re moving from DC to Houston in February, so I don’t think it’ll be so easy for them to fly in next time. I wish we had more time with them, but they’re going on their honeymoon to Australia and New Zealand in a week and couldn’t take more time off of work. We had fun though! Took a walk on a bridge over the Hudson River, made an awesome apple pie (with apples from the farm next to my house) and did some wine tasting.

This morning Otto jumped on the couch when nobody was around and ate about a third of the buttons off of the cable remote. Naughty! I told him if he gets poopy butt from that he can give himself a butt bath 😛

OMG, I slept so much last night. I was so tired.

LoveChaCha – I am always friendly with people at work, but end up feeling hurt when people quit. So I try not to get too close. Do you do anything with them outside of work? I think it’s great you’ve got some people that at least share your “pain” there and you can joke around with.

LPT – Money is always a good thing. Congrats again on your wedding! We did a registry when I got married, but we didn’t register for much since we already had a house full of stuff. I did end up with couple place settings of china, but ended up returning them since we couldn’t afford to buy the rest and we really didn’t feel like we were going to use it anyway.

I don’t get sad – they move onto better things We keep in touch on twitter, facebook, and text. Mostly the first two.

I’m going to be going to the Rock Woodfire Pizza & Grill to celebrate my former coworker quitting haha! I’m going to dress up after I get off work and one of my coworkers is going to give me a ride there (She’ll be there too, of course!). It is going to be fun! I won’t drink too much. I have to work the next day and alcohol makes me sleepy.. no Asian glow here haha

I’ve been friends with my coworkers since before I worked here – DH has been at our company for 5 years and met them first. This group has been some of the best friends I’ve had (college friends would probably come in first though) and I’m so lucky to have them. We’ve gone on vacations, had parties, watched each other’s pets, and everything else. I’m very happy to be working here now and get to see them at lunch every day. One is actually my boss now – originally he was just in the group I got hired into, but after a few months our boss quit and he was promoted. At first it was kind of weird, but he’s a laid back boss and it hasn’t been strange at all that we’re good friends.

I guess I just get too attached to people and then it turns out the feelings weren’t mutual. =\ I have “friends” from college, but they aren’t really good friends. I keep in touch on FB and that’s about it. I think the age difference and the fact I didn’t live on campus sort of got in the way of having a true bond.

I think it’s easy to grow away from co-workers when they move to a different job. If you don’t have a really strong social life with them outside of work, then the bond kind of dies off as you don’t have your usual interaction every day. I was friends with a few people from my last job and we spent a lot of time traveling together for work in addition to a few out of work social events (but not a ton). After I left the company we definitely grew apart. I would love to know what’s going on in their lives, but we just weren’t so close that I’m going to visit them or make a lot of time to get together (I also live further away now). I think that’s just how it goes.

So cute Mike, Samson does the same thing to her bed.

Haha! Reminds me of my dog. We will “dig” on the bed and she will get all excited and come over an dig.

Elrohwen – Yes, I think you’re right. I have done some things with coworkers outside of work, but nothing ever comes from it in the long run.

I consider myself very close to many of my current co-workers, but if they moved away (or we moved away) or even got jobs at different sites, I think the relationship would die out. I’m close enough to some of them that I think we’d make a real effort to keep in touch, but beyond that I don’t know. At a certain point it’s just too much work to keep in touch with so many people, so we kind of have to pick who we feel closest to and work on those relationships. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t a real friendship though! I have so many friends from college who I haven’t seen in years, but if we ran into each other I know it would be like we never parted and we’d spend so much time catching up.

Phewww busy busy week. This past week I finally got through a slew of exams…I’m pretty sure I spent more time last week in anatomy lab poring over half-dissected bodies than I did sleeping! I’m sooo glad that that’s over with though…and as a “reward” for getting through everything, we got our white coats on Saturday! I’m super excited about it, but it’s kind of weird because what I see in the mirror wearing my stethoscope and my long white coat with my name on it doesn’t match how I feel as a student that seemingly doesn’t know anything…but it just kind of reminds me of how much more I have to learn before I can really say I belong in it. Motivation to keep on working, and work harder!

In other news, last week lightning hit my apartment complex and fried my cable modem, but I have class from 9-5 so I haven’t had the chance to call my service provider to iron things out…so I’m subsisting on the bit of wireless signal I can get from campus.  I’m too spoiled…slow internet is so frustrating, haha.  I guess at least I’m lucky in that unlike the floor above me, my hallway’s fire alarm didn’t blare shrilly from midnight to 9am…

Last night, I got some scary info at work. They announced that they are phasing out part time employees. I do not understand how they can even possibly consider this since at least 60% of the workers are part time. Plus, it would make more sense to only have part timers to lower insurance costs. Plus, the store manager is making decisions that make no sense and then gets upset when the store does poorly and yells at people for it. Everyone in the store is very frustrated right now. I am very close to simply quitting. I only work there one day per week, but I was hoping to hold onto it for the summer.

Don’t you hate that? I have a manager like that. She does some pretty dumb things and then blames us sales associates for it.

Today, I was cashiering next to one of my coworkers and he and I kept pranking one of the other guys on the far away registers. It was freaking hilarous. XD

@ Peppy, congrats on making it thru exams and the “reward”. I’m loving your attitude.  We never really know everything and should always be open to learning.  

@Hucks, “tails giggles” is a great name for that bunny move! It always amuses me when they do that.

We just got 5 inches of snow dumped on us today. 0_o I was supposed to go in to town this afternoon for my oncology checkup, but we can’t drive on unplowed roads.
So instead, I brought a litterboxful of snow in for Mimz to play in…and all he did was sit in it and eat it until it melted and he was sitting in a puddle.
I finally had to take it away because he just wouldn’t get out of it. He looked comfy, but cold. I wonder if he could get frostbite sitting on it in the house? Even though it’s only 76 F in the bunny room, he really wants cold stuff. He sits next to his freeze bottles and washes them till he falls asleep on them.

It was 80 degrees here a couple days ago, now it is barely making it to 50. No snow or rain though! Phew!

i wonder if the cold helps with his arthritis. It may be soothing for him.

I dunno, when it gets cold here, my back hurts worse…I need heat myself, but since buns can’t take heat, I guess cold would be the natural choice. :-/
We’re definitely back to metacam at least once a day. Poor bub.
He sure was cross with me for taking away the box. The floor was nice and cool where it had been, but he wasn’t happy.
Usually, he’s resting his face on the freeze bottle. I know his teeth and jaw are fine, so I don’t get that. But I suppose it would be difficult to sit on it.

Personally, I’m in excruciating pain the last few days…as long as the weather is changing (more or less snowy/cloudy or clear) both hubby and me are creaking and groaning. >_< If it would just go one way and stay that way, we'd be fine.

brrrr….glad we don’t have snow yet! It’s coming though. Below zero this morning.

Today in sculpture, we poured the bronze for our latest works. It was cold and drizzling today but we did it under an awning, despite the risk involved with getting cold water in molten metal (it pops or can explode). It worked out well and the kilns were nice to stand by for the warmth. It switched from 70 to low 50’s (im guessing, thats what it felt like) in a day. Yesterday was nice, today was awful. I dont really look forward to winter but I sure love the holidays (mostly for the food).

Yesterday, I spoke with my advisor. I am about a year to a year and a half from graduating. Ive been in school since 2004 (off and on) so I am very excited. Next fall I begin my student teaching sessions and this summer Ill be taking a sculpture studio class which is the final of the sculpture classes offered. The sculpture class will be taught with sculpture 1 and 2 students as well so it will be really fun to see the different stages of progress all in one class.

Last night, Huckleberry was on hyper-cute mode. First, she ran from her room and greeted bf on the love seat, plopped into his lap and kissed his knees. Then she joined me and bumped me. Later, when bf bent down to give me a kiss, and she was cuddling by my side, she jumped up, used my face as a step stool and reached for her own kisses from him. Finally, when it was dinner time, she binkied and ended up going right through my legs mid binky.

Went to the vet yesterday with Bindi. Ears again. He was dealing with a mild infection. My vet mentioned she saw my Facebook wedding profile pic and gave congrats. Thankfully, Bindi’s ears are okay. When I went to the reception to pay my bill, the receptionist said “Bindi’s wedding gift to you is no more infection. Dr. Vet’s Name’s gift to you is no charge.” What a wonderful vet.

What great presents!!

I can’t beleive how fast October went by.  Tonight we have trick a truck at my daughters school and it is only in the 20’s tonight.  tomorrow we are supose to get 10 inches of snow yes you heard me right.  10 inches of snow.  Its only October.  We are going to be in for a long winter here in New England.  Last year it pretty much snowed everday.  I remember being outside making a path for my 15 year old down at 4 in the morning so he could go the bathroom!!  That is one thing I wont miss doing this year.  Madelin is going out as Arial from The Little Mermaid.

LPT, that is a wonderful vet!!!! And happy to hear that Bindi’s ears are ok!!!!

So, we just found out that we will be opening at midnight on Black Friday. Sounds like a lot of stores will be this year. I wore my bunny dress to work today, everyone seemed to like it.

i still cant get used to the concept of a 90 degree halloween,, i always remember as a kid, freezing my balls off trick or treating after the sun went down. You could hit the same route you hit in the afternoon and people wouldn’t care,, they just wanted to unload what candy they had left. I’d come back in with my fingers numb and snot running out my nose,, but with like 15-20 pounds of loot to show for it.

I grew up with Halloweens like that.  Always weird when it managed to snow before/on Halloween and you were trekking through the neighbourhood leaving footprints everywhere.

I can’t get used to Christmases with no snow.  We’ll be headed down to LA to spend it with the inlaws again this year and somehow palm trees and Santa just don’t go together for me.  The oddest thing I saw was the first year I spent Christmas there, and one of their neighbours not only had lights on his trees and all sorts of wintery lawn decorations out, he’d also covered his lawn with that fake batting to make it look like snow.

We’ve got small kids in our area, but I don’t like seeing them out in our weather for T n T…you can’t see their costumes anyway, they’re all bundled!
What scares me are the obvious older teens in their black clothes and toques coming to my door with 2 pillowcases each. >_<

My prayers going to all our east coast members tonight, sounds like a bad storm on back there.

Can’t remember the last time it snowed before Halloween. We got 2 cm yesterday. As a kid, it was not unusual to have snow, but it’s been a long time since we’ve had a white Halloween.

We got about 8″ of snow on Saturday! The trees had so many leaves that they just bent over with the weight of the heavy wet snow. Some states still have a state of emergency, but things are better in NY – we had power back by 9:00 last night (thank goodness, otherwise we were going to build a fire in the fireplace and sleep in there with the bunnies). The house only got down to 55F during the day, so I’m sure the bunnies were warmer than we were.

I’m excited about Halloween tonight. Our street has a ton of little kids, so it should be fun to hand out candy. Our next door neighbors said something about having a party, but haven’t mentioned it since September, so we’ll see. I guess we’ll be able to tell from our house if they’re having a party and we can walk over. That means I need to buy candy though! With snow on Saturday and no power yesterday I kind of got behind on weekend errands.

Does anyone know if you can search marriage and birth records for free anywhere? I have heard of people paying money to those sites and then there not being any useful information on them. =\ I tried familysearch.org and could only find old records (like my grandparents).

You can sign up for Ancestry.com for a free two week trial. I did it and I found a ton of useful information on my relatives born in the US and Canada – I traced my grandma’s family back to the early 1600s in Quebec. When I got back to Europe I could usually only find records of them coming over – no birth records or anything – so I lost the trail.

If you’re looking for very recent information, then I’m not sure. On Ancestry much of that isn’t available for privacy reasons (I guess they don’t want you searching a bunch of living people just for kicks). You can typically find marriage and birth notices in town halls, but I don’t know if much of it is online.

Yes, it would be more recent information. I could ask my parents about it, but I don’t want them to know I’m searching.
