I’ve been setting up my home in anticipation of my first rabbit, and this is what I heard online + books:

that more room = less confinded = happier rabbit.

I ordered two of these. I got my first order today, but I’m starting to think that ordering two was overkill.

        Thoughts? These were pretty expensive…

Definitely not too big Thats what my bunnies have, and its great Once I bond my boys, they will have double that amount of space

Edit: 1 of the pens isn’t too big I meant They will have 2 pens worth of space sometime! hehe

Hahaha never too big, ordering two was not overkill. Really rabbits need a LOT of space if they’re going to be comfortable and happy. (: My bunny has an entire large room 24/7 and soon to be the rest of the house!

For one bunny, in the beginning, the space in your picture looks great. Welcome, and feel free to ask if you have any more questions .

One pen is a good size for one rabbit. Once you put toys and a litterbox and food/water dishes in there, it will seem like there’s not enough space. If you’re thinking of getting a second bunny in the future, I’d recommend two pens joined together if they can’t be free roam.

                  Second pen just came in:

                  New thoughts?

Looks awesome! Seems like a great amount of space to me, especially if they won’t be free-roam!

Maybe later, haven’t rabbit-proofed my house yet, and I need to read a little more on litter training…

That is awesome! I wish I could have something like that for Riley! I can’t wait to see it with some toys and supplies in it, you’ll have so much room!

                              NICE!

I use two xpens but I have overlapped 4 panels in the back. So their space is 4×8 feet. I don’t have room to make the pen larger than that. If the full 16 panels are too large for your space, consider reducing it to 12 panels.

                                Only things left to do:

Migrate all my toilet paper rolls to cage (don’t ask, I save my rolls for some reason).
                                Buy the toy’s.
Buy food (ask about the rabbit’s diet from breeder/rescue)
                                Get the rabbit.

By the way, flooring suggestions? I’ve went to Home Depot and they have these huge sheets of vinyl…

Sheet vinyl is great. Just make sure to make the edges non accessible to chewing.

I used to use sheet vinyl when I used pens — see https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/Rab…fault.aspx (click on pens, and then go to the fifth photo– the floor was sheet vinyl but I did use some carpet square samples and blankets for cushy areas.

Awesome – looks like you’re all set for a very lucky bunny! One word about toys though…as many of us have found, you can save money and not bother with pet store toys. Bunnies usually like things they can destroy, chew, dig, or “remodel”…cardboard boxes, old phone books (and toilet paper rolls, as you mentioned) are great, not to mention very cheap. Congratulations in advance on your new bunny .

I like a plastic-backed canvas made for indoor painting.  It’s 9×12 ft & of course my play area  isn’t that big, so I fold it over, with no exposed edges inside the cage.  To be safe I weight down the canvas with bricks etc, placed up against the fence.  Enjoy your new pet.

Looks awesome! You *might* want to start with 1 pen until litter habits have been established, and then expand to the 2 Really the more space the better, and I think 2 pens is perfect.
