I am slowly unpacking in my new place.  I have an office/bunny room now, and decided to get one more piece of furniture for it.  That’s when I realized that the furniture I’ve purchased after getting Coffeebean only needed to fit one criteria:

Does it block the rabbit from electrical cords?

(Especially after he ate a lamp cord that was behind wire AND completely enclosed in aquarium tubing, or that time he squeezed under the old couch, literally pancaking himself in the couple inches of space and pushing with the tips of his toes, to bite through the phone line all the way at the back along the wall.)

My couches, my TV stand, my bookshelves, my desk…  When did a rabbit start determining the way I set up my whole house?

Around the time you named him…. 😉
I have learned to not care one bit about my furniture. We have one good piece and somehow Huckles has managed to leave it alone. But every thing else, that belongs to the bunneh!

Every cord that you leave out that is in the open is meant to be chewed and is our fault.

that is what I believe in.

She owned me when I first saw her picture. That disapproving face… I needed to pinch her little baby (now fat) cheeks.

Oh, he doesn’t do anything to the furniture.  But he is a master cord destroyer, so we buy furniture that will specifically block electric cords.  And he will redecorate any clothing or blankets that are left out with an nice “distressed” look.

Speaking of cords…… SOMEONE’s favorite food is the $80 macbook charger cord… She just sampled her 5th one this year. I DONT LEAVE THEM DOWN! I dont know how she gets them! GRRRRR

Hahaha Huckle, I know how you feel…my old Macbook charger had black electrical tape “battle scars” all over, and in some places there would even be bitemarks on the tape where I’d patched a previous bite. I would always hold up my charger and tell people “this is what happens when you have a bunny…”

Agreed with Chacha – the moment you took Coffeebean home, you didn’t know it..but you were signing over all decision-making privileges to him

My rabbits must be weird. They really aren’t all that interested in cords. Drywall on the other hand..

Sunshine chewed the phone cord twice in my house. I didn’t have phone service for a few days. I have learned not to care about furniture. Though sunshine is left out where there is no furniture.

Pretty much every decision I make in the home, I take the rabbits into consideration. Stormy started making the decisions as soon as he moved in this joint with all his plushy adorableness.

The delicacy in our house was mouse cords. They hung off the computer desk at just the right height… after replacing several, we finally went wireless.

But speaking of charging… it seems like inductive charging is becoming the “big thing”. A pad that you can set your cell phone on and it will charge with no wires. Of course, the PAD has to be PLUGGED IN… so technically, you still have wires that can be munched… in turn ruining a much more expensive device.

Bunnies started making the decisions 5 minutes after I brought the baby Pringles home. She hopped out of the box, took a look around and promptly completely flopped out on the floor. Scared me so bad I called the vet to tell him I think my new bunny just dropped dead in front of us!

Now I buy furniture based on how it will look chewed. Our house went wireless pretty quickly and NIC blue is a standard decorating accent.

Kralspace, I thought you were going to say when you saw her with a hammer.

no kidding jerseygirl…….watching her build her first false pregnancy nest was a bit unsettling. The loud colored houserobe I could understand, the hammer and phone wires (she had just clipped) I never was sure about.

Regarding chewing of wires, my Ebunny is a ninja, and will find wires too! I have encased all of my wires (we are a VERY techie household, 6 computers, game systems, DVD, all that jazz) in auto wiring encasing. I got for super cheap at my local auto parts store, I will attach the link so you know what to ask for. The auto encasement is MUCH more heavy duty than aquarium stuff, and she seems to dislike the feel in her mouth. Best part, it comes pre slit so you just slip wires in, and zip tie closed.

                                      http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Result.aspx

Should be available for varying prices in your area at any auto parts store. In US think Checker, O’Reilley’s, Auto Zone, NAPA, etc…..

And it was the second I saw her she started to make the decisions around here, lol. I thought I would be the only one to fall, but the whole family is just NUTS about her too!

I’ve already started worrying about what to do with our Christmas tree this year. It’s always in the living room and Gabby and Thumper are free range in there. Should be a fun holiday season.

I have to x-pen my Christmas tree when the buns are out in the living room.

My pleasure to help. I know that just the tubing being pre split sold me on the stuff. Anyone who has tried the aquarium stuff will love the auto loom stuff….
