George aka Bomba (5 lb. Holland Lop) is a free roam bunny and loves to spend his time under my bed and under the sofas. He roams up and down the stairs and occasionally into the dining area. His litter box is upstairs and his potty habits are impecible, although he does sprinkle around his box. He has no cage and typically sleeps under my bed. There is a bunny bed, hay, water and toys under there, too.
After weeks of dating a number of ladies, I adopted Smudge (3 lb. lion head). She groomed him extensively, but he did not groom back (he’s never groomed anyone). She does not want to be mounted and manages to avoid it most of the time, but she doesn’t appear distressed if it happens. They spent a bout an hour together and remained friendly, laying near and apart, she grooming him, he trying to mount her.
I set up pens next to each other in my bedroom, where Bomba spends most of his time and where I want to keep their litter boxes. I can hear thumping (wood floors) and I suspect Bomba does not like being in a pen.
While I continue the bonding process (bathroom, kitchen) do I need to keep Bomba penned next to Smudge?
What can I expect as far as marking?
How can I tell when Smudge is littex trained to her new environment?
I also have a cat who keeps to herself, but I can tell resents the rabbits.
Any advice is appreciated.
