George aka Bomba (5 lb. Holland Lop) is a free roam bunny and loves to spend his time under my bed and under the sofas. He roams up and down the stairs and occasionally into the dining area. His litter box is upstairs and his potty habits are impecible, although he does sprinkle around his box. He has no cage and typically sleeps under my bed. There is a bunny bed, hay, water and toys under there, too.

After weeks of dating a number of ladies, I adopted Smudge (3 lb. lion head). She groomed him extensively, but he did not groom back (he’s never groomed anyone). She does not want to be mounted and manages to avoid it most of the time, but she doesn’t appear distressed if it happens. They spent a bout an hour together and remained friendly, laying near and apart, she grooming him, he trying to mount her.

I set up pens next to each other in my bedroom, where Bomba spends most of his time and where I want to keep their litter boxes. I can hear thumping (wood floors) and I suspect Bomba does not like being in a pen.

While I continue the bonding process (bathroom, kitchen) do I need to keep Bomba penned next to Smudge?

What can I expect as far as marking?

How can I tell when Smudge is littex trained to her new environment?

I also have a cat who keeps to herself, but I can tell resents the rabbits.

        Any advice is appreciated.

All my worrying was for nothing. They were bonded and in love in 3 days.

Day 1: They were housed in side by side pens in Bomba’s home base. There was thumping by Smudge and she was going potty outside her box.
Day 2: Smudge was using her litterbox. I moved them to a more neutral area after scrubbing down with 50/50 vinegar & water. Same set up.
They play on the patio for a few hours each day. Still a lot of humping. Smudge hops away. No aggression.
Day 3: They were laying next to each other against their pens. Opened he gate between their pens. George attempts to mount but stops if Smudge
resists. She lets home sometimes. They started grooming each other and flopped against each other. Same thing during outside playtime.

They’ve been like this ever since. I’m de-odorizing as much of Bomba’s scent from my bedroom, but I’ll move them there next.

Ditto. Congrats on the quick bond! Sorry if your 1st post got missed. That’s unusual here on Binky Bunny.

I’m curious who the bunny in your avatar is?

Thanks! My avatar is my first, Vasha. I adopted her just as a spinal problem surfaced which left her paralyzed. She passed in June. Bomba was her intended mate, but they never got along. I still miss Vasha so much, but I’m happy Bomba is so happy now.

Yeah, sounds like they’ll be great together.
