  Sooo this Saturday, my boyfriend and I are heading to a rabbit rescue an hour away to see if our little girl would like a friend. Can’t wait!
  
  Since it’s an hour drive, she’ll be kind of nervewracked by the time we get there, but I know she’ll adjust soon after getting her feet on the ground.
  
  If things work out and we have a rabbit going home with us, do you think it would be best to keep them separated for a while? I only ask b/c I know bonding is different for all rabbits, but I’ve heard of people putting their bunnies in one carrier so that they bond during a scary car ride.
  
  Do you think the day will be too stressful for this? Or would you try it? On my own I wouldn’t try it, but if others have had success with this, I would be willing to bring a larger carrier for them and two regular carriers in case they do not like to be in the larger one together for the ride. I could separate them if it wasn’t working out.

  I would keep them together on the car ride. The ride will be too scary for them to think about fighting and they will take comfort in each other. It’s a good first bonding session. Since you’re already taking your bunny to meet the new one I’m sure you won’t pick one that’s going to fight with yours :p.
  
  Once you get home you’ll want to separate them though. Put yours in it’s pen to recover from the stress and put the new one in it’s own pen somewhere quiet and relaxed so it can get used to the new space. Don’t start bonding them until the new one is comfortable in it’s new home. Personally, I like the new bunny to bond with me before bonding it to another bunny. Otherwise, what use does it have for you?

  We have a new Bun! He is a lop eared little cutie. We named him Dexter, and he seems to be in love with my Bun. However, Bun is being a little short with him. They’re separate for now, but they seemed to tolerate each other well enough that the rabbit rescue thought they would definitely hit it off with bonding experiences. He really wants to be with her, but she needs more time. It’s as if she isn’t sure what to do with him lol… He’s asked to be groomed and she runs away every time!

  I’ll get a photo together when they are bonded.
  
  They’re in separate cages, and I’ve been letting them out one at a time. It’s super cute b/c Dexter is IN LOVE with Bun. At least, that’s my interpretation He comes up to her cage and puts his head in a little and she’s been rubbing her chin on it. She hasn’t given him any bunny kisses yet that I know of, and sometimes she boxes him, but he never gives up. Today he has been running along side the cage and running away when she comes up to him (which is what she does when she’s out). I’m not sure what this all means, but it’s really cute and I think they like each other.
  
  I know that chin rubbing means a rabbit is claiming something. Is she really claiming him? or does it have something to do with him putting his head in her cage? I’m not sure!
