  And yes, you’d think it was because I am getting married in 5 days LOL, but that’s not it at all.
  
  We lost our wonderful dog Whizz to Cancer just over a year ago, and with loosing my house rabbit pal PitStop things have been pretty lonely around here. We had been tossing the idea about about getting another dog, and had been researching breeds and such when we came across a rare breed called the Canaan. I found an amazing registered breeder and sent in an application, I was so surprised when I got an email back saying how she liked my application and would like to speak with us!
  
  I was on the phone for 2 hours talking dogs, and am now on a waiting list for the next litter that will not be born for over a year.
  Things may change, that is a ways off. But I am super excited to know I may have a Canaan Dog as part of our family, I just think they are incredible.
  We have still been walking dogs at animal control, and though I am ALL for adoption and rescue my reason for wanting a registered pure bred dog is for guaranteed health. We went through so much with Whizzer’s Pancreatitis, Diabetes and then Cancer it’s somthing we’re like to try and get away from if possible. Plus all my animals were someones elses, many with behavioural problems and we would like a chance to start from scratch with a puppy, something we’ve never got to do.
  
  I’m going to get to meet a couple families near me that have Canaan’s, so I can get a better idea of the dogs since I’ve not met one in person only read about them.
  I am also tossing around the idea to foster a dog for a while, I’ll talk it over with my Animal Control and see.
  
  ok…. better get back to wedding stuff LOL

  That is exciting. I’d never heard of that breed so I looked it up. Very beautiful dogs!!! I’m gonna post a pic of the breed for everyone.

  Maybe it’s just the colouring but that dog looks a lot like Whizzer!

  Yeah they do some what look like our Whizz
  They come in many colours, this breeder seems to have mostly Black & White puppies, which I like.

  Canaan dogs are pretty cool. Try getting into agility with it, I think you will like it.
  
  I would love to add another dog, but we just can’t manage right now. Our house is full as it is, funds are tight and both of us are working. I have a soft spot for boxer/lab crosses like the clown I have now. But my true passion is giant dogs. Newfs, danes, wolfhounds, berners… you get the idea. Although a non-AKC breed that is really rare has caught my eye and I may want to get into them. Honestly if I ever were to get into showing and breeding dogs, it would be with kooikerhondjes.

  I think you’ve earned the right to get a puppy, Andi. That is very exciting And congrats on the wedding too.
