I would be really worried that there are more mice than just one Try to look around and make sure there isn’t a nest somewhere in your home.

I would say just keep a close eye on her over the next few days. Check carefully for swelling from possible bites. If you find swelling, I would suggest calling the vet and asking what you should do. I can’t really see a mouse biting a rabbit but it could happen.

If I were you I would go to the hardware store and get a few live traps and place them around your house just in case there are more.

Also, scan along all the walls for holes or other openings where the mouse may have gotten in. Setting humane traps is a great idea, especially near any holes or cracks you may have spotted. Just be sure that Wilbur can’t get near the traps.

The Havahart humane mouse traps are about $20, so that might get kind of expensive to buy more than one, but one should work. I have one and I’ve used it a couple of times, baited with a tny piece of bread smeaed with peanut butter. You are supposed to take the mouse far away from your house ( a mile or more) otherwise it will just come right back in unless you can find the entrance hole/holes and seal them.

There is one natural deterrent that I have heard of. I don’t know how well it works. Mice apparently don’t like the smell of peppermint. You take cotton balls and put a few drops of peppermiint essential oil (oil of peppermint) on them and scatter them around the house, or you can place the peppermint oil directly on floors, walls and other items, (although I might be afraid of damaging floors and such with oil). The scent should last a couple of weeks. Of course, you wouldn’t want your rabbit to ingest the cotton balls, if they were tempted by them, but maybe you could hide some under or behind the cage where your rabbit couldn’t get at them.

We have 3 cats so mice are not a problem. But someone at work moved into a mouse infested house. They used some supersonic noise thing – that emits a high pitched sound and the mice leave. But I wonder if the bunny would be able to hear it too

I’ve heard of those supersonic plug in devices too. Years ago, I used to see them being sold on home shopping networks and people said that they really worked, but I heard later that they don’t work so well, or maybe not at all. Rabbits are not affected by the sound, only rodents and insects.

I just noticed this post- we lost power for a few days after the hurricane and I’m still catching up. We have mice on/off and just set a few live traps and catch em til they’re gone. It always worries me, the potential for the buns getting some kind of infectious rodent-borne disease, but it’s probably not too likely. I’m extra careful now to put the traps where the bunnies cannot get to them- one time I didn’t completely block a trap and I found Bunbun the next morning, hanging out keeping the captured mouse company. It looked like he pushed the trap around some too, probably out of curiousity. I was horrified at the thought of my bunny in contact with a wild mouse, but I guess no harm was done. It’s just gross, the possibilty of our rabbits eating food that has little mouse poops in it >.< . But most of the warehouses that hold human and animal food are full of rodents, so I suppose we're all exposed to more than we realize.
