         Yet again.  Sigh.

This might not make complete sense.   I went for a massage on Tuesday.  I was really sore from it.  By Tuesday night, my back killed me.  And it killed me all day yesterday.  But I stuck it out at work even though I was miserable.  Came home last night and took some percoset.  I also took my normal meds around 11pm like I normally do.   I have no freaking clue if it was the coke I drank last night or the percoset or the combination of everything, but I was up all night.  I was exhausted.  I still am.  But every damn time I was about to fall asleep, I woke up.  I didn’t even get into a sleep.  It was more of a doze.  And then I’d have to roll over or some stupid crap like that.  Then about 5am my allergic reaction itchiness kicked in from the percoset.  So I had to call to work in cause I’m about ready to zonk.

My rant is about being a freaking woman.  I’ve always had moderate PMS.  I’d get the cramps and the back ache every month.  Some months would be worse than others but it wasn’t like the pain was so bad, I couldn’t function.  Of course, I was on the pill for a few years so that probably helped.  I am getting ready to start back on it to see if it helps because for the past few months, my pms has been horrendous.  It really exacerbates my back pain.  And I am pretty sure part of my severe pain this week is pms related cause I’m due to start any time now.  I really hate being a girl right now.  lol

My whole from my neck down to my glutes is really tense and tight.  So when I went for the massage, I expected pain.  I am trying massage therapy cause I think part of my spine issue is that the muscles are really tight and angry.  It was a bit odd cause my lower back pain didn’t get really bad until I got home Tuesday night.  But my right side hurt.  lol

I’m just really struggling right now.  I do ok for the most part but when my back flares up and I’m miserable and can’t work, etc, it just gets to me really bad.  I’m sorry to whine again.

I’m sorry you’re having problems again. Have you tried that inverting thing? Some people swear by it. As for the PMS thing, try getting a pill that lets you skip periods. If you only have a few every year, instead of every month, then it would be better. Or you could be like me and have a period once in a blue moon. But you’d have to have messed up hormones like me. Haha! =D

I have to second the recommendation to skip your period. I’ve asked my doctor about it, and she has no concerns about it – she said that the only reason to get my period would be to ensure I wasn’t pregnant, otherwise it was safe to skip (though of course you should ask your doctor as well).

Have you tried acupuncture? Maybe that would be a less painful way of helping your muscles than massage is? I don’t know know, but I’m sending good thoughts your way! My father has chronic pain, so I know how hard it can be. Whine all you need to!

You can actually skip periods with any birth control pill! Just continue taking the next month’s pills instead of taking the week off. I get horrible cramps and get cysts every month so this is what I do. I think Seasonique worked the best as far as controlling it all, but it’s expensive and I’m poor. Haha

I take my bc pill 3 months on 1 week off … so I get a period every 3 months. I have PCOS so it really helps for me to be on the pill. And yes it sucks to be a woman! Ugh!!

Have you thought about seeing a chiropractor? I know it sounds silly, but it does wonders for most people.

Ugggg sorry ): being a woman does suck! My doctor gives me 3 months worth of the pill (I skip the sugar pills and go straight to the next pack) so I can skip my period, but he says that I can even make it so there’s a longer gap between periods if I feel like it, just as long as I have a couple periods a year. It makes a huge difference! I go from having to take 4 ibuprofens every 4 hours for days to now barely feeling any pain at all without any meds haha.

You can with the kind that have the same dose in all the pills. There are some phase pills that you can’t do that with.

I have PCOS too, it sucks! They actually didn’t even figure out I had it until one day I went to the hospital complaining of extreme pain and they discovered that one of the cyst had blown up to the size of a large watermelon (apprx. 18.5lbs!) and had twisted up in my ovary and tube.

So I know trust me! I know all about how much being a woman sucks and you have complete right to complain all you want!

I have had the cysts rupture and it’s like no other pain. Yuck! I had 2 kids, give me child birth over rupturing cysts anyday!! Did you lose your ovary? That is a HUGE cyst!!

For the phase pills with graduated doses of the active ingredient, you can still take them back to back as long as you vary the order.  For example, for a pack with 3 active weeks you can go 1 2 3 3 2 1 1 2 3 3 2 1 etc.

                            LOL Kralspace!

Sorry Michelle&amp that’s awful. Stupid women issues! It’s just not fair (and believe me, I can get on that soap box)! I have PMDD and for a week each month I’m inconsolable. I can’t imagine having the back problems too.

Oh wow, that’s complicated. LOL! But I guess it’s good to know that it can be done. I just get the same dose kind and take them all the time.

Ah, I didn’t think of that LBJ! I’ve always taken birth control for my cysts so the doctors have always put me on pills with the same dose- except the very first time I was on birth control.
Peppy- I would never remember that. I would definitely forget to start at the bottom of the pack every other month! Lol.

Yeah, I lost the ovary and the tube on my right side. I don’t even want to think about how much pain I would have been in if it had ruptured!

Ouch, sorry you’re going through this – you have a right to complain! Being a woman sucks sometimes. And men are all like “it happens every month, aren’t you used to it by now?” uh… they get a cold and they become total babies, but expect us to deal with pain and bleeding like it doesn’t even happen, pah.

bwild, oww. My mother had a cyst cause her ovary tubes to twist as well, she had to have her ovaries removed for it. Painful. I have little ovarian cysts and when I do have one and I start my period… they burst open. I usually take 2 days to do nothing but loaf around when that happens, I can’t stand the pain pills the doctor gave me, so I just deal with it.

My utereus is apparently the size that they find in women who are 5’10”. I am 4’9″. lol I got sent for a sonogram to make sure everything is ok. I was too busy sleeping today to call about the results. I guess if anything major showed they would’ve called me by now. lol But I will be calling tomorrow for the results.

The pill I was on up until December was the kind with just the one hormone or whatever every day except for the sugar pill. I tried skipping my period when I was on it, but it just messed everything up. I am now on Othro tricyclen lo. When I had my surgery, it messed up my period and being on the pill so I quit taking it. Up until May/June, everything was relatively ok. Then BAM! MAJOR pms and pain. I’ve always had pms but I didn’t start thinking it was affecting my back until the past couple of months. Like my pain was really bad on wednesday and I started my period today and the pain level is back down. I don’t really don’t know what to think anymore. Except that if my uterus is larger for my size, then no wonder I’m having freaking problems. LOL

Yes, I am a hormonal stress ball cause my dad is pissed I was home today and I started bawling. He is worried about my losing my job. I can’t sit him down and explain about my pms issues now because he can’t handle “women things” nor does he want to hear about it. And even if I could explain it, I don’t think he would ever fully understand. Stupid men. They really couldn’t handle having a period every month. And then they wonder why we go off on them when they’re being stupid. lol Sigh.

Thanks for reading and the support. I’m just stressed out by a lot of stuff today.

When you skip your periods (via BC), you may experience some bleeding and other side effects.

I’ve been on the patch (ORTHOEVRA) for 6 years. My experience with it is incredible. The price of tampons are wayYYYY expensive lol, so I’ve skipped a few. With the patch, I’ve noticed that my period has become lighter and I don’t get cramps. I used to have killer cramps but the only side effect I get is a 2 day headache!

I’m sorry michelle I hope it all clears up. I hate womanly issues as well. Whenever I DO get cramps, it scares me. It is beign cysts, but it freaks me out due to the fact that I lost my mom to ovarian cancer (and I’m on high alert) so I get it checked out to be sure.

You have to remember that some people are more sensitive than others as well. Everything is just one big ball of nerves down there and pain can radiate out. I can totally see pain from your period causing pain in your back. I have pain that shoots down the insides of my legs. Everything is just aggravated and so the pain travels far.

I’ve wondered about this! I almost got it but opted for the NuvaRing instead (boooooooo!)! Does it stay on and whatnot?!

GAHAHAHA TATE!! i LOVE THIS!! I’m laughing like crazy!

When I first began the patch, I was really worried about it falling off. My doctor reassured me that it wouldn’t. It stays on and always has – you can even swim with it on. There are many places you can put it (arm, pelvic area, butt) so nobody can see it. You get 3 patches in a box, change it once a week, and go patchless the 4th week (period week). It has treated me well! I was on the pill before but after a month I had to switch (to what I am on now, the patch) and it made me moody and grumpy and I hated myself ><

I guess I am the only one that has had good results with the pill O.o I used to be on the depo provera injections, years ago, but i went with the pill this time around. So far, it has helped me a great deal more than the injections ever did. Patches, the ring thingy, no thanks. I’ll stick to the pill

I actually liked a few of the pills a lot- Seasonique in particular. I’ve gone through so many though, picking out birth control is like shopping for me. I hear of something new, I must try it. Lol.

ChaCha, do you get them for free? I always used to get free samples of birth control at the Western Washington Planned Parenthood- they’d give me 6 months worth! In Eastern Washington, we pretty much have to pay full price. They get samples but they sell them! I don’t even think there is a sliding scale here!

Yeah, I do get it for free. I’m not sure if the program (Take Charge) will be available next year (that is an entire different story that I won’t say on here lol – I can be a big feminist). It depends on your income and if you have no insurance. I was put onto my dad’s insurance this past year (I already signed up for take charge before this happened) so I’m probably going to have to pay out of pocket for patches next year. My dad has really good insurance. That reminds me.. I need to call the insurance company for a quote on that o_O

Omg Tate! That just made my day! Thank you! LOL

I have only tried the pill. I quit taking it in december because the surgery messed me all up. then I didn’t have any money for it. Up until May, I was fine and quite surprised by how mild everything was. Then June hit and BAM! And I began cursing being a woman once again. lol

I have always had good luck with the pill. I’ve been taking the same one for *gasp* 7 or 8 years. It’s funny that you bring up Planned Parenthood. I remember the good old days when I could get pills there for free. I remember going there when I was 17. My parents had absolutely no clue. I had gotten a yeast infection and I freaked out. I didn’t want to tell my parents, so I made an appointment there all by myself. They offered the pills to me after my visit.

For the status our country has for being a world leader in various areas, we sure are behind the 8 ball when it comes to women health and services. Ok….stepping down from my soapbox now. Don’t mean to start anything either. I just know Planned Parenthood provides great services. lol

My birth control went from $40 a month to $3 a month when I did this! I am on several other medications too, and all but one can be a generic version which saves me so much money!

I never had very bad cramps when I was younger… but I have chronic back pain so at that time of the month, the minor cramps would be exacerbated SO BAD! I have the Mirena implanted birth control. I got it 8 years ago after having Michael (for FREE from a Planned Parenthood actually!) and it was replaced a couple years ago. 8 years… NO periods!

A lot of my family has used it and every one of them had bad side effects once they stopped, or during use. But it is good to have available.

Hate it.  What whacky concept of nature in the first place.  elch!!

After having surgery to remove what they could of severe endometrosis (couldnt’ remove everything) along with cysts, I had to be on Lupron for 6 – 9 months.  (which temporarly shuts down your hormones –lowers the levels of hormones in your body)  Though the surgery and Lupron helped prevent endometriosis from taking over for awhile, and I was pain free for a few years,  it does come back. And it is back and I can tell the nightmare is beginning again, with a vengence. . Though they recommended I start birth control pills after the Lupron injections, I felt bloated all the time. My doc had me try different kinds and my body just proved to be sensitive to them (didn’t use to be in my younger days).

Since I doubt I can wait until menopause, I look forward to at least having a partial hysterectomy as that seemed to help lessen the issues with my sister (as she has similar problems).

Anyway….I hear ya sistas!!  For those of us that have real issues every month it can be extremely frustrating as it wreaks havoc physically and mentally, and it’s hard for others to fully understand. It just makes us seem like we are some emotional whackjobs complaining.  It’s not fair but it seems to be the way it is.     grrrrrr.

Brittany, you have to have already had a child. The cervix needs to be “open enough” for implantation. It’s amazing for people who want to space children.

My friend who has no kids has one (and she hasn’t miscarried or had an abortion or anything), and I’ve been looking into getting one myself (I have a gyn appt on Tuesday – gonna talk to her then). However, they do require you to be in a stable, monogamous relationship but not wanting kids for a while (HJ and I have said 7+ years until we want kids). And they warn that it will hurt more if you haven’t had kids.

From what I read while doing research, Mirena (the plastic one with hormones) recommends that it’s for women who’ve had kids, and Paragard (which is copper and has no hormones in it) doesn’t mention anything about kids.
