August 22 was Romeo’s first birthday ever!!
He had been a little depressed for a few days before and I was a little worried. The truth was, I had forgotten his birthday. It wasn’t until the day before that I suddenly remembered. I swear he can understand human speech because the second (yes, the very second) I announced that it would be his birthday the next day to my family, Romeo cheered up. That very day he did binkies in our living room. Ah, the relief. I think he was mad that I forgot it was his birthday.
It’s either that or he had been having bonding sessions with Tigerlily for the past few days as well. They weren’t doing too well, truth be told. After their bond broke, as some of you guys might know, they hated each other to the deaths. My dad, a super committed miracle worker, tried to bond them day after day. I, on the other hand, had basically given up. It’s really much too scary when they go at it and fur flies everywhere. D:
Anyways, the morning after Romeo’s birthday, he no longer had ANY aggression towards Tigerlily. Instead, during bonding, they groomed each other (after some persuasion, of course) and Tigerlily became the totally dominant alpha. She takes pride in nudging Romeo away so she can steal his spot on the floor. Romeo, in turn, growls (or what’s the funny sound they make?) and runs away scared.
Although he seems like a little baby lamb being bullied and herded to and fro, he’s actually extremely happy. Today I caught him digging at a little white fleece blanket in the corner while wagging his little stump of a tail then binkying everyyyywhheeerrreeee. Repeatedly. That is, until Tigerlily poked her little head out from the hidey house (that Romeo isn’t allowed in) as if to say “You’re too loud. Be quiet.”
Either Romeo or Tigerlily dominant, I don’t care because either way, I’m completely in bliss. They can now peacefully live together.
Happyy~
Hah, I even heard the rebonding can be impossible. >:’D
If any of you are interested, I can post an overview of my dad’s bonding concepts in the bonding section. If you guys want, that is. :’D
These are pictures from Romeo’s birthday. Sorry for the bad quality. It was really dark and my camera’s flash is weird. D:

^ Romeo is wearing my cheetah stuffed toy’s (her name is Claire) shirt. Who says a boy bunny can’t pull off pink? Can’t say he enjoyed this too much though haha. See how awkward he looks? The collar was too big and the sleeve openings too little. xD

^ Romeo is enjoying the dried apple peel “cake” I made him. It was supposed to be round but it was too brittle to bend easily. xD I bought the wreath as his birthday present from a 99c store. He loves it because his favorite pastime is destroying stuff.

^ Really dark haha. Anyways, Romeo got over his new look and decided to chill next to the couch for a bit.
So yeah. There’s not that many pictures. Sorry~
Romeo showed us he was having fun displaying his new and improved binkies. It was very funny. :’D He now has a habit of binkying super fast and super high then suddenly turning around and racing the other direction. Haha. It’s so cute.
His birthday was nothing special. He just spent the evening in the living room (with limited access to the other rooms in house in which there is a ton of wood that he oh-so craves) like he does everyday. The only difference was that he got even more treats and spent a longer time with free roam than Tigerlily. :’D
WAHH. I can’t believe my little Romeo is an adult now!! He’s growing so fast…
Thanks for reading. Btw, I know I haven’t posted in awhile. So sorry. Busy with school, summer, life. D:
I’ll take pictures of the newly rebonded couple later.
OH GUYS. I HAVE BAD NEWS THOUGH. IT’S PRETTY BAD. D:
Romeo and Tigerlily have been living outside for about a month…
It’s so sad. I hardly slept for the first week. My parents decided that with the rabbits unbonded and taking up the entire entranceway, it would be better for them to have a big space outside. I totally opposed. I tried everything. I made them read articles. I suggested that they move the rabbits to my room so my room would be the only smelly one but my mom didn’t want hay to provoke my allergies. WHHAATTT. Please, anything. D: Every problem, every excuse, every complaint I had they solved. I couldn’t even scare them with outdoors rabbits horror stories.
But in the end, they just did it. My dad built a hutch without me knowing. The good thing is that the hutch is super duper big, incredibly safe & sturdy, etc. It has two tiny windows that we can close during the night. In the daytime when we’re at home, we open the door which my dad made perfectly sized to wedge three nic cubes into as protection and window to fresh air.
The area the hutch is in has three walls (our house has a funny shape. there’s a patio in the side yard that has three walls), one of which is entirely windows. The window side also helps make up one side of the rabbit hutch so we can see that at all times. The side that isn’t wall is a high fence with my neighbor’s house super close by.
So yeah. A better description would be pictures. Our house is small with a really odd shape and everything is weird because we live in the hills. But yeah, that’s the story of the old houses of the bay area, CA.
Ughh. They’re outside. D:
But I’m not so nervous anymore. My dad is the type of person that would never do anything to harm them unless he was 100% sure it’s safe. Although I would so much prefer them to live inside, there’s really nothing I can do, so I have to make the best of their conditions.
We have racoons in the area but the fences are padlocked, tight (I can hardly open the fence doors), and really high. Our side yard is really safe. If we add a wall, we would have a new room (some of our neighbors already did this hahah). My parents might actually do that. If they do, my problems would be solved.
The upsides: the area is really cool and shady (even more so than inside) on top of the fact that it never gets hot (or cold) over here anyways, the hutch is pretty big and they have room to race around, it’s super quiet outside, and there’s some fresh air during the day (not so much at night because we have max. security over there haha).
The downsides: everything else.
So yeah. That made me very depressed. D: At least they spend every evening inside and everyday daytime with my dad constantly watching over them.
Other than the bad news, the rabbits are doing EXTREMELY well, so that’s about it.
Sorry for the excessive writing. D:
First of all…

That’s wonderful that they are getting along well now. I’m very impressed that your Dad helped you bond them. You should start a thread in the Bonding Forum about how you guys ended up bonding them.
It’s unfortunate that they have to live outdoors but as long as they are still receiving wonderful care and attention, that’s really all you can do for now. Just make sure to bring them in during extreme weather and storm warnings.
I agree…few guys could pull off a pink dress as well as Romeo did. ![]()
heehee, how cute is he in the dress! Happy Birthday Romeo! When you get older you’ll get to choose your own clothes.
Hang in there buddy. lol
LittlePuffyTail~
Ahaha. It’s really some miracle.
They get too much attention, these little two buns do. Everyone in my family loves them to pieces so they get nagged every few minutes. “Oh Romeoo, want some lettuce?” “NO. I’M SLEEPING.” “Oh Tigerlilyy, wanna come out and play?” “NO. I’M SLEEPING.”
Haha. They disapprove every second of the day. xD They’re quite sleepy until the evening when they get to come inside and do whatever they want.
I will definitely bring them in during storms. They would be so scared outside. D:
jerseygirl~
Hahah. It’s funny because when we put the dress on him he thought that it was just some weird fur sticking out so he just tried to groom it down. Didn’t work. xD
