  When I adopted my bunny, he was the most docile and sweet rabbit…yet, if I tried to feed him by hand, he wouldn’t take any food from me. He seemed puzzled when I tried.
  
  It took a lot. I tried all his favorite greens and herbs….finally, with a banana, he was so tempted, he ate the slice out of my hand….so gingerly and gentleman-like.
  
  I have to believe in Kelsey’s former life, food was left out for him. He didn’t know how to eat when it was handed to him. NOW he will eat any food I have in my palm. I do believe it was a BIG bonding moment because he is so gentle and he enjoys that I am the “alpha” in that equation.
  
  Has anyone else had a rabbit who was not used to being hand -fed? If you have a rabbit who you haven’t hand-fed, would you consider trying it?? I know it has brought Kelsey and I so much closer. He now prefers anything I offer him and he seems insulted (LOL) if I just leave it out for him.

  I think it’s a great way to bond with your rabbit by hand feeding sprigs of greens or a lettuce leaf. It’s fun to watch them eat too.
  
  I don’t have time unfortunately to hand feed my rabbits so I do have to leave the greens out for them to eat during the day.

  I LOVE hand feeding Tillie. As a matter of fact that is the only way she has eaten until we got Toby. She still eats better when I hand feed her, but she will eat her greens next to Toby, happily. I love to watch them eat too. Toby is a loud ‘cruncher’ on his carrots where as Tillie eats very quietly and lady like.

  I’m glad it has brought the two of you together! Arthur, well let me put it this way, will eat right out of your mouth. I was sitting on the couch eating a peach and within seconds I had a rabbit on my lap, climbing on my chest, eating the other side. I let him have a few bites (spoiled brat) before I was standing, finishing it with him begging at my feet.

  My dad (Chacha’s grandpa) enjoys hand feeding Chacha bun her morning pellets.

  I hand feed treats to both of my bunnies, and some pellets, but generally their breakfast and dinner is just set out for them. Hannah will at least try just about anything I hold out to her. I’ve had Otto since 8 weeks and half of the time he acts like I’m trying to poison him when I hold out some random veggie. lol He has no problem taking treats or pellets from me though.
