We are going camping on the 19th – 27th and we don’t have a pet sitter to pet sit them. We are going to be going home on these days to feed them and I was wondering if that would be ok?

Top line is morning bottom line is night. Feed means when I am home to feed them and None means I can’t feed them. They will always have tons of fresh water and hay.

           Friday 19       Saturday 20     Sunday 21      Monday 22    Tuesday 23      Wednesday 24     Thursday 25    Friday 26   Saturday 27

Feed             None               Feed                    None               Feed                     None                    Feed                 None        None

Feed             None              None                    Feed                Feed                     None                    None                None         Feed

        What do you think? Do you think they will be OK? I will give them tons of hay and water and also veggies and pellets when it says { feed}

I am sorry you are having trouble finding a pet sitter You must be stressed out.

My main concern would just be to make sure if they dump over their bowls of water that there is a few back up sources. Which you already said there was plenty of hay and water so, just do the best you can do.

Maybe put out some extra water bowls, in case any get spilled or if they drink it all or such. I usually have to refill my bowls 2 or more times a day, so 2 days between refills could be rough if extra bowls are not out.

I normally have 2 bowels and have to refile them once a day. So I will add 2 more bowels so they have 4.

Finding a pet sitter isn’t normally that hard, but we are 2 1/2 hours away from home at our other house and we don’t know any one up here.
              Thanks guys

It looks like they would have no more than 24 hours alone? I think that would be totally ok. I ditto the alternate bowls-though mine have never tipped one, if I only left one I’m sure that would be the time they did

Wow 2.5 hours to go back and forth That’s too bad, if I were close I’d keep on eye for you Although…it might be nice to come home and shower -you might enjoy the camping trip more with a nice break and a real shower

Have you called any vet offices in the area? They may have a vet tech who does pet-sitting, and I think that would be better than having to drive 5 hours a day.

Kokaneeandkahlua: haha. No, the house we are at now is 2.5 hours away from our real house. Right now we are at summer house. It is 45 min. from our house to the campground Its kind of confusing, we are in the middle of selling our old house and building a new one

OH! 45 minutes is much better than 2.5 hours! Thanks for clarifying!

Congrats then!! Our house building/buying sit is just getting started so I know that craziness-sort of, probably only a little. 45 minutes is fantastic I think Dave would love to come home from camping every other day. Course I’d have to beg to get him to leave his TV and shower to come back lol

                            Have a great trip!

lol. I am excited. We might go today instead of tomorrow. But first we have to go into town and by the bun buns some food and toys for when I am gone!

I have another question. Most of you know I am fostering a little baby bun. My mom wont let him stay inside so he is outside in a dog crate in my new outside pen. I put a tarp over it when it rains but if I leave in on to long, it gets like an oven in there! So should I leave the tarp on? put it half way on? leave it off? I don’t want him to get wet.

Could you maybe make a top out of coroplast for the crate or something instead of a tarp, so it won’t get too hot but he won’t get rained on / too much sun?
