  Hi, I’m a new bunny owner and frankly, a rather scared one as such.
  I got my albino bunny; Limon, two days ago. He’s very friendly and he quickly warmed up to me. I can pick him up now without trouble and he even snuggles to me when I’m in his pen.
  
  When I first saw him pee, the day I got him, his pee was clear and yellow, quite normal actually. But just this morning, his pee turned milky yellow! I don’t know what I did wrong, and I read online that milky pee is a sign of stones?!
  
  I fed him the pellets he was eating from his original place, gave him two small pieces of carrots as treats. And gave him a “taste” of banana. He’s hooked on it now.
  
  Well, now I’m thinking that perhaps it was the water that disagreed with him? Cuz I’ve only given him tap water. I don’t know what’s in it, but maybe calcium flouride…? I switched his water to rainwater , and will try deep well water if his pee doesn’t clear up in two days.
  
  Has anyone had this problem before with a bunny? I haven’t fed him anything other than carrots, bananas and his pellets. Please, I hope you could give me advice on this since Limon has grown on me!

  I wouldn’t give rain water, it isn’t exactly clean.
  
  If his urine isn’t sludgy, you probably don’t have to worry about it too much. Just keep an eye on him, and you may wnt to take him in for a new pet wellness check anyway.

  What about hay? I didn’t see you mention you’re giving him hay too. Rabbits thrive on hay – timothy, orchard, oat….please give him unlimited acces to a good quality hay, as well. Welcome!

  Unfortunately, we don’t have that here in the Philippines. Philippine bunnies are destinied for a hayless existence. Best alternative we have here is water spinach which is what most bunny owners use here. And I’m not too keen on having hay shipped in from the US.
  
  I’m keeping a “pee journal” on Limon at the moment. We’re going to the vet tommorow if his pee doesn’t clear up by morning. He’s got me enslaved by now.

  Is it the expense of shipping hay from the US? There are some nice inexpensive hays available if you shop around, on ebay, in online stores, etc. if you spend some time on comparison shopping.
  
  I think you’re doing the right thing taking Limon to the vet right off, even if his pee does clear up. You’re on the right track. Good luck!

  A Hayless existance? Have you tried looking for some hay? Hay is the hugest part of a rabbit’s diet…
  
  There has been one other Philippines resident that has been able to find hay.

  That other Philippine resident lived near our capital region, whereas I live on another, farther, island. I’m looking for ebay suppliers though. But closest I found was alfalfa hay. I’d prefer timothy hay if we had that here.

  It’s normal to see milky pee from time to time. Rabbits pee out excess calcium their bodies haven’t used. Sometimes their pee will look orange, brown or red and can look scary but this is normal too. That’s often from plants in their diet.

  Alfalfa hay is better than none, really. If you can’t find a good grass hay anyway.

  talk to BB about getting a bunch of mini-bales,, theyre really compact so you could fit a lot in one box,
  youll want to get a quote for USPS priority mail with 3rd party insurance (u-pic or shipsurance) so they can declare a lower value for customs and still have everything insured.
  
  the largest box size you can ship USPS to phillippines is 79 inches length + girth. We use 18″ x 18″ x 12″ (45x45x30cm) boxes for countries with that size limit. that should hold at least 9 mini bales. you do nto want to use fedex,, it will be 4x the shipping cost and you will get the piss taxed out of you by customs. We spend thousands a week on international shipping so i’m totally comfortable handling the shipping aspect if BB doesnt want the liability.

  Limon’s more than 3mo old. Thanks to jersygirl for the link, I’m gonna buy their timothy hay bale soon as my paycheck comes in.
  
  Just got back from the vet, nothing’s wrong with Limon he said. He did clip Limon’s nails for free though. And the check-up was free as well. Doc also told me where I can get alfalfa hay in my locality. So all’s well now.
  
  I did have to cater to his Majesty’s cantankerous behavior in the vet though. Got reprimanded with scratches as well.
