So Arthur has his condo and we have his previous cage just hanging out collecting dust.  Is it possible to use that cage for another bunny?  Even after numerous cleanings, I’m sure Arthur’s sent is still all over it.  I don’t plan on using it or getting another bunny till Arthur is neutered and ready to pick his buddy at our local rescue, but if it is his old cage, will it cause a lot of problemos?

Is the condo made out of NIC cubes? If so you could take the grids apart and soak them in vinegar and water.

The condo is made out of NIC cubes, his old cage is just one of the standard GIANT cages. I was hoping to use it for a new bunny to be housed in until they are bonded. Then I was going to get more NIC cubes and restructure the condo to something new for the two of them.

If you wash it out well I don’t see how it would be a problem. The bun might mark a bit if his scent is over it, but after the new buns scent is there he/she should calm down.

It’ll be fine. Just clean it well. Shouldn’t be a big deal at all and it make sense to recycle and it’s only temporary.  I used to foster rabbits and always put them in recycled cages from my other rabbits – just cleaned them and it was no problem.

Navi just moved into the cage that was once Stormy’s. Stormy’s first cage housed at least 2 rabbits before him. We’ve never had an issue. Just do a through cleaning!

Spockie’s last cage was a gift from my parent’s and he was in it for several years. It was huge, but I kept it and washed it quite thoroughly, more than once. I only disposed of the contents, like the warped platform and his favorite dishes etc.

Samantha was just fine in it. I changed to an xpen for her and donated his cage to my vet who boards bunnies, along with having one in particular she used it for who was there for her long-term care. No problem.

Not a problem – just clean it out and it’ll be ok. I have two Giant cages – one be bought for Otto and still use attached to their pen, and a smaller one that Hannah came with. We’ve used both cages with both bunnies at various times with no problems (during the cementing phase of bonding when they would chase each other at night we put them both in one cage or the other and had them sleep in our bedroom – it didn’t matter to them whose cage they were in)
