  We’ve had our dwarf lop for over a year now but the past few months she began to have abscess and dental problems
  
  Her abcess had rotted away a tooth in the front and i don’t know what has happened to one of the top ones, but she only has a top and a bottom tooth , which both often get misaligned.
  
  She has been booked in to get her teeth clipped, however she is getting so frustrated as she can’t eat her hay. Is there any way i can help her eat it? As far as i know, she can eat hay using her back teeth? is this true? and if so how do i get her to start eating it this way (as she keeps trying to eat hay with her front teeth). We’ve tried soaking the hay to make it softer and easier for her to eat but she’s not going for this idea.
  
  Other than this tooth problem , everything seems fine as shes eating and binkying like usual, just cant grab her hay

  Welcome. They usually eat hay with their back teeth – the incisors really are used to “push” the food into the mouth if that makes sense…the molars do the actual chewing. I would try cutting it in smaller pieces – it may nor may not help, but it’s worth trying – usually cutting the vegetables up into smaller pieces will help with rabbits who do not have incisors as well. Have you considered having all her incisors removed? It’s very common and many rabbits live without their incisors – especially if they have dental problems such as you describe. It’s worth discussing this with your vet.

  Might also ask if the appointment can be made any sooner if there’s a cancellation and an opening.
