Okay Mimz, I just got a response from the maker of the tea, and I gave her the link to this thread so she could see what’s being asked.
Here was her response to me: (she okayed me posting it here in the forum)
One could just open the tea bag and offer the dry mix to the bunny (some bunnies will eat dry mint, lemon balm and chamomile) and get therapeutic effect, but to get the full therapeutic value for the purpose intended, the tea is the way to go. Room temperature or slightly warm is best for digestive support. And as you know, when a bunny isn’t feeling well they may be refusing food even if they normally would like the dry herb mix. Plus with digestive issues hydration is very important. Someone asked if the Tummy Tea would replace Benebac — answer is no. The action and purpose of Benebac are different.
The tea is not only delicious, but very soothing. In addition to the digestive support it is calming and the chamomile provides a mild analgesic effect. When one of my bunnies is in need, I tend to syringe five or so teaspoons once each hour for three times along with using gentle massage techniques. And I generally drink some myself to help reduce the worry about my sick fur “kid.”
One last note about the tea. Recommended shelf life for leafy herbs and flowers is generally six months. When it gets near the six month time frame, if the tea hasn’t been needed for the bunny, I’d recommend the customer use it for themselves so it doesn’t go to waste and replace it with a new batch for bunny.
Hope this helps clarify the use of the tea.
