What do you guys think of these? They are advertised at the top of the forums, so I don’t think it’s beyond the rules to post a link here, but I’m eyeing something like this for the bunnies for when they are bonded. I don’t think I can build something as solid as this myself.

Yes it will be indoors and will probalby take up a good chunk of one corner of my front room, but I think it will be worth it as long as the buns don’t chew straight through it in the first week.

Should be fine, provided they don’t like to chew too much You give them lots of play time, so the size should be good. And it’s nice looking too!

I think an xpen would be easier for you to clean and would fit in about the same space… and a heck of a lot cheaper. You could use the money you save on getting some type of protective flooring for that corner and new litterboxes/supplies.

I agree about the x-pen will be much easier to clean and move around.

A variation on the xpen concept that would look like this a bit more would be to have a 4 sided wood (NOT cedar) habitat with hinges on all corners, and a swinging door that opens at the front. The convenience of an xpen is is portability – you move it around, you shape it, you step in to clean inside it. If it’s not being flattened ever, you can make a wood cage, but for you I think it would be important to have it flexible. Aspen wood or untreated pine might be a good kind to use. But the door that opens easily is key. I stepped into the xpen this week, slid it off the fabric covering the bottom, and bunched up the fabric and stuff to throw it all away at once. Moving the xpen was a flexible breeze. No top to worry about, either.

I have this for Rufus inside, not the best to clean so I took the front and top mess section off and placed in the middle of an xpen and works well.

I think MM might be looking at this sort of thing because of the cats. Though xpens can come with wire panel top so definitely still an option.
The think I like about the hutch in the picture is there’s space to put rabbit supplies up high on the solid wood parts. I do agree with AV, consider the cleaning factor in whatever you do decide to go with.

Jerz is spot on. I really need something enclosed so that the cats don’t bother the buns, and if they do get fresh with them, the bunnies have somewhere to retreat to. I never wanted to try to build one myself, due to not being sure what kind of woods to use. As far as chewing on said wood is concerned, I thought I could have hubby attach some plexiglass or other kind of plastic moulding on certain spots to keep them from making holes in it.

Although daughter just offered to trade rooms with me again, so perhaps not really necessary. I appreciate the opinions though.

What about a chain link dog kennel fence thing? I don’t know how much those cost but there is one in my grandfathers house and I think I am going to snag it and remodel it, I think it would be safer with chicken wire lined on it. The ones I have seen are completely covered.

I really like that hutch though

If you are doing that you could do what I did and make sure that the top section of mesh can be lifted because otherwise it is a pain in the back, neck and knees to crawl into the thing to clean the back section through the door
