My brother and his family are getting a house built so they had to move out of the trailer so they can get it out of the way for the new house anyway my sis inlaw was getting rid of a cabinet and well I had a awesome idea!!! I’m going to reconstruct it into Thistles bun mansion!!!

It’s 4 stories tall!! (in bunny size) lol   My dad dosent know it yet but he is being turned into a bunny slave!!! mwahahahahaha I promise to get pictures posted of before and after shots! The question is….  all the bun hutches I have seen have ramps from one level to another should I do that as well or could I use platforms? I know mini rex buns have medium to fine bone structure and I was concerned that the platforms might be to rough on his dlicate frame or am I being to over protective?

        Her is the original cabinet:

I removed the doors entirely took all the hardwear off and replaced the back Then lastnight we (dad and me) were up till 11 making the frames for the doors. We called it quits lastnight because we were getting tired. I got up thismorning to feed the horses and saw this!

My dad has been completly transformed into a bunny slave! mwahahaha! He got up early this morning and added corner braces and wire to the door and got the hinges on them! hehehe Its not finished yet, but so far so good! One of the many good things about living on a farm is you always have extra wood and wire! lol I have yet to buy anything to this project!…..so far…

I have a four level condo for my mini rex and he just hops from level to level. I don’t have any ramps. He can get up and down the levels super fast and without difficulty.

If the levels are within 12-16 inches, you probably won’t need ramps. See how the bun does without the ramps first, you can always add them later.

OOOOOO really?! Thistle LOVES to jump (expert escaper from NIC cube runs!) so that just might take care of that question!! The distance is about 12 1/2 to 13 inches I wasnt to thrilled with them being so low but now that he will have a constant run attached to the hutch so he can stretch out, Im not worried about him having a low roof

WOW! I LOVE IT! ( If you have seen any of my post you would know that I am obsessed with building rabbit condos)

An Idea on what you could do to ad more ventilation is cut holes out of the side of the condo and put wire over the top like I did with my condo. Just an idea.

Awesome idea! I was seriously thinking about making circles on the side and covering them with wire! lol I will end up doing that eventually but winter is almost here and my mom likes to keep the heater off all day and have the windows open and I think a more closed hutch would stay a bit warmer. OH IDEA!! maybe when this hutch wears out I will build one that can have sides like your hutch but have flaps that come down over it when its cold! hmmmm I have to agree with you, I really like building hutches!

The flap idea is cool! you should try it sometime. I have actually considered going into a rabbit condo business!

Awesome! I love these cabinet cages!

I just threw away my Indybun Mansion

My rabbits liked to chew on the edges a bit, keep an eye out for that since yours is painted. Maybe you can cover it with something if they do decide to “taste” it.

How long is it? It looks a bit short to me just by the photo. And if you are going to cut holes for ramps, then you are going to lose even more floor space.

A bunny condo business would be awesome!! If wood wasn’t so expensive I would make the coolest condo ever! but this condo will have to do… for now! lol

                          Lintini:
I saw your picture you posted on getting rid of your mansion what a bummer! I will definatly keep a eye on the chewing good suggestion!

                          Sarita:
The pictures do make it look small especially the last 3 pics, its actually really roomy in there I cant remember the exact measurents off the top of my head but I know he will have more room than his kennel he is in now, Also the last door will be open all day and only be closed at night so he has half my bedroom to run around
